Barry M Dusky Mauve NOTD
I have for you today a simple NOTD using Barry M Dusky Mauve that my dear friend Christina gave me in our last swap. I'm sure you've heard that it's a dupe for the much hyped about Chanel Paradoxal which was released last year. I'm so way behind on colours, I don't really stick to trends with my polish or fashion and just wear whatever I feel like haha =) Anyway, when Paradoxal and her dupes 1st came out I honestly didn't get the hype surrounding it. These sorts of colours are lovely but not reeeeally my kind of thing. However my opinion slowly changed as I saw more swatches of it and finally got to try it out for myself!
Dusky Mauve is a taupe loaded with purple shimmer. It's gorgeous on the nail and I was very surprised that I liked it! Above and below is 2 coats without topcoat.
Close-up:
Of course I couldn't leave it alone so I added 2 coats of OPI Sparkle-icious to my accent fingers for a bit of sparkle! Topped it with a coat of Coffret D'Or gel mode topcoat for a glossy shine. Just a simple NOTD at the end of a busy day!
Do you have any of the Paradoxal dupes? What do you think of these types of colours?

It's really a nice one, I have paradoxal and lots of similar shades, and I love it, though by this time of the year, I tend to go to other colors, as I wore them like, the whole winter !

I'm speechless! I don't think the Paradox has that shimmer in it. But I wish it did! I have that one. Now yours, that's just too gorgeous for words! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it with the accent nail. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty nail polish, I have it too :) I love the sparkly combo you did ;) x
ReplyDeleteWow do I love that accent finger!
ReplyDeleteI have Paradoxal and I love it! I also got Dusky Mauve as a back up and I can tell you its a 100% dupe!
ReplyDeleteWow, so it looks taupe when it isn't in direct light? I'm not a purple fan but I do usually love it with a brownish tone... that sounds awesome!
ReplyDeletelove this shade! I don't have anything close to this shade or Paradoxal :)
ReplyDeleteso beautiful! also nice sparkle!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous! Especially love the glitter!
ReplyDeleteSpecial with glitter on
ReplyDeleteI have Revlon Perplex which is supposed to be a dupe of Paradoxal, and I'm actually planning on using it today. I like the color but I'm kind of afraid it will look like a bruise! lol
ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this color and am so grateful I own it. It requires no extras and looks awesome on your nails.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't too thrilled with Paradoxal/Dusky Mauve/Perplex the way most people seemed to be, but it's been growing on me. It looks wonderful with the accent nail!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that you put Sparkle-icious on one finger--looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love this color! It's so pretty! I LOVE purple!!!!!! :D The sparkle-icious over the purple shimmer is such a great combo! I have to try this out. :D
ReplyDeletewhoops, I mean glitter not shimmer!
ReplyDeleteI love Sparkle-icious!

I have the Sportsgirl one and Witchery's new Violet shade is supposed to be a dupe/rip-off (from what I've heard). I think this kind of shade looks great on everyone, but that OPI glitter shade you've got, I MUST have!
ReplyDelete@S: I was really surprised I liked it! I think I'll have to get some more of these shades. It's coming up to Autumn here in Sydney so I'll be wearing more of them!
ReplyDelete@Kimberley: It's a shame that the Chanel polishes with shimmer don't show the shimmer well.
@Rachel Marie: Thanks Rachel!
@Stavroula: It is isn't it? Thanks Stavroula!
ReplyDelete@Antoszewskia: The OPI Burlesque glitters are just so awesome! Since they're so difficult to remove I love using it for an accent nail =)
@tasha~: Oh that's fantastic! No need to spend so much then hehe.
@shimmerspark.com: It's quite a dark colour and it's not exactly purple. It's lovely!
@Jennifer: It's really pretty isn't it! I'm really lucky I got it =)
ReplyDelete@Miss Starshiny: I couldn't resist adding a bit of glitter.
@Gloria: Thank you Gloria! Glitter makes any manicure that more special I think =)
@Dhini: Thanks Dhini!
ReplyDelete@ameliaadelle: I've been looking for Perplex EVERYWHERE here in Sydney but I don't think we're getting it. LOL I don't think it'll look like a bruise at all!
@Chris: I'm so grateful I own it too. I usually stick to the same colours so it's nice to own something out of my comfort zone!
@Danielle: That was my reaction initially when it 1st came out too. I couldn't see what all the fuss was about! But in person it really is a nice polish.
ReplyDelete@Patricia: Thank you so much Patricia!
@Jennifer Leigh: Thanks Jennifer, glad you like it! I don't feel my mani is complete without something a little extra =p
@Alice: LOL definitely try it out! I love love LOVE the Burlesque glitters!
ReplyDelete@karo: These glitters are just so AWESOME. Glad you like it Karo!
@Cherry Pullinger: Definitely add it to your collection hun. You can own something that's similar to a Chanel at a fraction of the cost!
@In Palace: Thanks =)
@Joan: Oooh Witchery has nail polish now????!! Wah I didn't know that! Is it any good? I recommend you get ALL the Burlesque glitters Joan!
