Essie Winter collection 2010 swatches and review

I was very kindly sent the Essie Winter 2010 collection to try out recently and being the last day of Winter today here in Aus I thought I'd better get my swatches up quick smart for you ladies!! This collection was released internationally some time ago but was only released here in Aus a few months ago. Onto the swatches!

Going Incognito is described as "deep emerald green". To me it's more of a forest green and the formula is of a jelly like creme. It's ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I don't have enough greens in my collection and this is SO welcome! 2 coats is pictured.

Luxedo is a deep plum jelly that looks almost black on the nail. I love jelly polishes and this is no exception. Luxedo is fantastic when you want a dark polish but don't want to go with black. 2 coats is pictured.

Close up:

Hot Coco is a sepia taupe creme. A great work appropriate colour! 3 coats is pictured.

Close up:

Silken Cord is a stunning bright coral candy red. Essie do sexy reds like no other brand I've come across and Silken Cord is just perfection. I wish I had this polish when I met D - I'm sure I would have won his heart faster haha!

Masquerade Belle is a deep red wine jelly. The ultimate vampy shade! 3 coats is pictured.

Smokin' Hot is described as "stone-cold fox gray". It's a tough colour to describe and I'd say its a purplish grey creme. My apologies for the dodgy swatch pics here, I am not made for swatching and I was getting quite restless at this stage! The first picture below is most colour accurate - my camera wouldn't pick up the colour properly. 2 coats is pictured.

Overall: A gorgeous collection from Essie! The colours are perfect for the colder months (or anytime of the year for that matter!) and there is a great selection of colours and finishes. I'm so happy there are three jelly finishes included! My must haves for this collection would be Going Incognito, Silken Cord and Luxedo.

I found the formulas on these excellent albeit on the thinner side. I found I had to apply more carefully so as to not flood my cuticle but this wasn't too much of an issue. The polishes are highly pigmented and applied like an absolute dream! Most only needed 2 coats for opacity and had I been more careful I could have gotten away with 2 coats for all colours. The finish of these is just so unbelievably glossy - you can see my reflection in almost all my pictures! Dry time was excellent too.

Details: The Essie Winter collection 2010 can be purchased now from Myer stores and Hairhouse Warehouse stores nationally for $18.95.

US ladies can purchase Essie nail polishes from the Essie online store for $8US.

What's your favourite from the collection? Thanks for looking as always ladies!

Product(s) sent to me for consideration but this in no way influenced my review in any way. As always, my reviews are my 100% honest opinion. My Disclosure Policy can be viewed here.
