Revlon Cherries in the Snow NOTD

Today's NOTD is actually from VERY late last night =p I've been lending some of my polishes to the girls from work and one of them lent me Revlon Cherries in the Snow to try in return.

Revlon Cherries in the Snow is a red creme that doesn't actually remind me of cherries.. the colour is more like a red apple or something. I suck at describing things sorry! I haven't used Revlon polishes in a LONG long time and I think I know why. I found it a little difficult to use the brush and had to do quite a bit of cleanup. It also chipped a lot after just a couple of hours of wear even with Seche Vite. On the plus side it only needed 1 coat which is always a big plus in my book! Below is 1 coat without topcoat. I had difficulty capturing the proper redness of this colour unfortunately.

Revlon Cherries in the Snow

I then decided to be very literal and konad cherries and snowflakes! I used Konad Special Polish in White to konad cherries using GCOCL plate B01 and snowflakes using Konad plate m59 on alternate fingers. Topped it all off with Seche Vite.

Hope you like it! Don't forget to enter my 200 followers giveaway here!

Color Club Hello Kitty manicure

Today's NOTD is a bright and playful Hello Kitty manicure in honour of my boyfriend's adorable 2 year old niece =) My bf's brother and sister in-law live in HK at the moment but they are back home in Sydney for a visit and I get to play with his niece tomorrow!! YAY!! Fun times to be had as long as she is not in a cheeky and terrible mood lol. For this mani I used Color Club She's Sooo Glam and Poptastic from my recent Color Club haul.

Hello Kitty

She's Soooo Glam is a gorgeous Barbie pink creme polish from the Rebel Debutante collection. I've been looking for a Barbie pink for so long and I've finally found it! Application however wasn't the best and below is 3 coats. The 1st 2 coats are full of streaks and bald spots! I probably could have used 4 coats but I hate the feeling of thick polish so I stopped at 3. I love the colour so it's worth the pain! It dried quickly and to a nice glossy finish too.

Color Club She's Sooo Glam

I used Poptastic from the Poptastic collection on my accent fingers. It's a neon pink polish and it's so bright and cheerful!! My pic doesn't capture the true neon quality of this polish though unfortunately. Application on this was MUCH better than She's Sooo Glam - it applied smoothly and evenly and below is 3 coats to ensure no VNL.

Color Club Poptastic

I then used China Glaze Admire to stamp full dots nail design from Bundle Monster plate BM 19. On my accent fingers I used Konad Special Polish in white to stamp Hello Kitty design from GCOCL plate A02. Then covered it all in a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust and topped it all off with Nailene Acrylic Strong topcoat!

Here are some food piccies from dinner a few nights ago at Ikea. I absolutely LOVE Ikea and have ever since I was little - I could literally spend hours there =p The food there is cheap, cheerful and tasty even though you eat cafeteria style but that's all part of the fun.

The boy and I had a plate of Gravad Lax (salmon with dill and mustard sauce) each:

Gravad lax

I had Swedish meatballs and chips. These are really yummy!

Meatballs and chips

And the boy had stuffed salmon with chive cake:

Stuffed salmon

All for under $30!! No trip to Ikea is complete without visiting the Swedish Food Market full of Swedish food goodies. I normally go crazy and get Daim chocolate (some of the best chocolate in the world!), pear cider, and soft serves amongst other things! But all I got was Lingonberry and blueberry cordial. These are delicioius and you can really taste the difference between these and supermarket brand ones.

Thanks for looking!!

Essie Baby Cakes floral NOTD + my favourite Vietnamese food

Here I am procrastinating again by blogging =p This is a NOTD I did a few days ago but am still wearing using one of the Essie polishes from my mega nail haul 2 weeks ago.
Essie Baby Cakes is a very pretty, light lavender colour with shimmer. I found the 1st coat streaky while 2 coats is opaque, but 3 coats is needed for a perfect finish.

Essie "Baby Cakes"

I then added flowers from GCOCL F01 plate using Konad Violet pearl topped with a thick coat of Seche Vite.

I haven’t posted many food adventures lately as I haven’t been eating out that much lately. But earlier in the week I went for some Vietnamese food at 2 of my favourite places. Pho Anh in Bankstown is a fast food noodle restaurant specialising in delicious Vietnamese noodle soups. You go to your table; order your noodles as you sit down and the noodles come to the table within 3 minutes. Literally!

Pho Tai from Pho Anh
Pho tai (Rare beef noodle soup)

They do one of the best Pho as the broth is just SO DAMN GOOD. The secret ingredient is dried sandworm apparently ;) I usually order a small pho tai and if I’m extra hungry extra meatballs to go with it. It's great all year round but it's especially nice on a cold winter day, it just warms you right up!

One of my other favourite Vietnamese restaurants is Bau Truong in Cabramatta. It’s tasty, relatively cheap, and is always reliable. I love the bánh xèo (Vietnamese pancake) which is a savoury pancake filled with fatty pork, prawn (shrimp) and bean sprouts which you dip in nuoc nam sauce. It’s nice and crispy on the outside and then you get all the wonderful textures inside.

I can’t remember the exact name of the dish that the boy had, but essentially it was prawn crackers topped with rice noodles and grilled beef and lots of herbs. Very yummy!!

Orly Once Upon A Time NOTD fail

Hello ladies!!
How has everyone’s week been? I am mightily relieved because I have completed and submitted 2 assignments this week! YAY!! So I thought I would celebrate by trying out 2 new polishes I purchased from Orly’s Once Upon A Time collection. Click the pic below to see the colours and fashion inspirations for the collection.

I saw these a while back and fell in love with each and every colour. The colours are absolutely gorgeous and the names are wonderful – Think Prince Charming, Enchanted Forest etc. They also come with a charm to correspond with the colour name, how awesome is that! Plus I love fairytales and when I see the colours I think Snow White I only purchased Happily Ever After and Mirror Mirror even though I wanted the whole collection which is unusual for me but I just love this collection. However I had self crontol and only purchased 2 =(

Orly Happily Ever After & Mirror Mirror

Orly Happily Ever after & Mirror Mirro

Orly Happily Ever After is described as a "deep berry creme" and is my current favourite! It's a dark berry colour with little flecks of purple and blue shimmer which is just gorgeous. The shimmer is subtle but in direct light it just pops. It was very smooth to apply and was opaque in 2 coats.

Orly Mirror Mirror (accent nail above) is described as a "creamy grey neutral". In real life it's a light grey colour and is a nice grey to add to my collection as my 1st grey polish. It was a little streaky on the 1st coat but the 2nd coat smoothed it right out. I was wary of Mirror Mirror after reading reviews but I didn't experience any lumps or bumps. I'm trying really hard to fight the urge to buy the other colours but I think I may give in soon!

Here's a close-up of Happily Ever After so you can see the flecks of shimmer:

Orly Happily Ever After
Geez this pic makes my finger look really wrinkly!! I did just get out of a long shower though o_O

Now we come to the fail part of this NOTD. I wanted to do a fairytale manicure and konad the stars design using China Glaze Passion and GCOCL plate K05. For some reason it just would not behave and it refused to pick up the stars so I swtiched to the heart design on GCOCL plate A01 because happily ever after means eternal love etc etc. Because I haven't used plate A01 before I had to peel the plastic film off and I cut myself on the edge of the plate!!! F@#$ it was sharp! And it wasn't even the corner of the plate! The moral of my pain is to please be careful when peeling the plastic off your new plates.

Then to top it off I just could not get the placement right and smudged a few nails. Oh well, here is my attempt below and please excuse the bandaid on my rude finger!

Lastly I'll leave you with today's afternoon tea which happens to be one of my favourite foods - pacific oysters - which my fab mum thoughtfully brought home as I'd been busy finishing my assignment!
