Essie pink glitter NOTD
For today’s NOTD I decided to go for something pastel and glittery so I decided to try out Essie Bike Ride with a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust on top.
Essie Bike Ride is a pink pastel with slight purple undertones to it. It was kind of a pain to apply as it streaks like crazy and is definitely a 3 coater. Having said that though I’m digging the colour and it’s worth the trouble.

Without top coat
Before I applied glitter, I added a nail decal to accent fingers using Pink Fin nail decals which I purchased from my local shopping centre. These decals are what got me interested and hooked on nail art last year!!! The girls at the stands are super friendly and they give you a free sample (1 nail decal on your nail) whenever you walk past. They also have nail wheels with different designs using the decals and I love to see what they have to get inspiration for my nail art. These decals are fantastic and last until you take your manicure off and even then I struggle to get them off sometimes! They come in a million different designs and retail for I think $4 each or 3 for $10. They’re great for a quick manicure and seriously you can buy them all. And I love the fact that it’s a little Aussie brand =)

I then applied a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust which unfortunately is a bit hard to see in the pic below. I then sealed it all with a coat of Seche Vite.

Ke$ha inspired NOTD inspired by Jacie @ YGN + Orly haul
Confused by the title?!!! My NOTD today is inspired by one of the awesome manicures by the lovely Jacie over at You've Got Nail. A while ago Jacie did a Ke$ha inspired manicure for a friend and I fell in love with it. I'm not particularly a fan of Ke$ha (the $ in her name is ANNOYING) but this manicure is HOT! So I decided to do my own inspired by Jacie's inspired nail =p
For the manicure I of course needed a dense glitterly silver polish and a black matte polish. I don't have either so I decided to go shopping! I picked up Orly White Tips; Matte Vinyl and Tiara which I've had my eye on for quite some time.

L - R: Orly White Tips; Matte Vinyl and Tiara
I used Seche Clear as base (not pictured) and then Tiara.

Orly Tiara
Pictured above is after 3 coats of Tiara and it still didn't fully cover my nail as you can still see my nail tips. Besides sucky coverage I found the application disappointing (may be due to my skills) because I kept getting bald spots. I haven't had any real difficulties with other glitters I've tried before so I'm rather disappointed with this polish. It looked nice in the bottle!! Any recommendations on a good dense glitter that covers nicely in 1-2 coats??
I then applied a coat of Seche Vite (not pictured) to get a smooth base just like Jacie did. I then freehanded Matte Vinyl on the tips and didn't apply top coat to maintain the matte finish.

Ke$ha inspired manicure inspired by Jacie at YGN!
With Matte Vinyl, I found I had to work fast because the polish was drying on the brush in the middle of me applying it! Because I applied it over glitter I can't say whether it applied smoothly as there were still some bumps after a coat of Seche Vite.
Hope you like it! Please check out Jacie's version (link above) and her blog, i check it daily.

NOTD: Ruby fimo fruit nails
Here's my NOTD which is more like a Nail Of The Week actually because currently that's all I have time for!

Ruby fruit fimo nails
I haven't done a manicure using fimo clay in ages so I decided to do another fimo fruit manicure. Please excuse my unkempt cuticles!! I did my manicure in a rush because I wanted to head off to bed =p
Here's what I used:

From L-R: Seche Clear; CG Love Letters; CG Ruby Pumps and Seche Vite
I used Seche Clear as base coat; CG Love Letters as sheer pink base colour and CG Ruby Pumps on the tips.

Fimo fruit slices
I then placed cut fimo slices and some diamantes strategically on my nails with a thick coat of Seche Vite as top coat and VOILA!

All about nails! Konad, Kimmi NOTD and new Sally Hansen products in Aus
I ordered a few Konad products from wowsocool using 30% off code courtesy of frmheadtotoe last week as they will no longer have discount codes any more =( However luckily ocnailart.com still accepts discount codes! I ordered last Thursday night (04/03/10) and my items were shipped on Friday and they said ETA would be about 12days. You can imagine my surprise when I got home on Thursday and my package was waiting for me meaning it only took 4 working days! I'm very pleased =D

I ordered 6 plates - m56, m63 (not shown as it's on back order) m71, m79, s9 and s10; double stamp set; 2 plastic scrapers; special princess polish in black pearl and special top coat in clear.
I attempted to do a Kimmi doll NOTD using s09 which I was most excited to get, however I found the flower designs really hard to work with so it didn't really turn out the way I wanted it to.

I used Seche Base ridge filling base coat as my base coat and CG Innocence as base colour. For konading I used CG Passion, Konad Special Polish in white and Princess polish in black pearl for accent finger and Special Polish Top coat in clear for top coat.

From L-R: Seche Base ridge filling base coat, CG Innocence, CG Passion and Konad Special Polish in white.

Konad Special Polish Top coat in clear and Princess Polish in black pearl.
I gave in and purchased the top coat and I must say I can notice a difference especially used with the black polish. I had no patience doing my mani so I just put the top coat on straight away after konading and the smearing was hardly noticeable. The Princess Polish is really pretty in the bottle with little reflective gold bits in it and I love the shape of the bottle. It doesn't come up as dark black as the Special Polish when stamped btw.

Image plate s9, double side stamper and plastic scraper.
As I said above I found the flower designs on this plate really hard to work with. The stamper just would not pick up the designs for me! Has anyone else had this problem? I originally tried my non-konad polishes with the plate which didn't work very well and even with Konad polishes it didn't pick up the whole design. Methinks partly because the flower designs are just so thin..? The japanese doll came up really well though! So at least the plate isn't a total waste. The double side stamper is well worth investing in as the green side is a huge help for placing the small designs for a newbie like me! The plastic scraper is good in that it doesn't scratch your plates but there's no need to go out of your way to buy it.
For the Aus girls, Sally Hansen's new products are now available in Aus from Priceline! The World Square store in the city had a whole stand of new products with the Hard as nail Xtreme polishes, Insta-dri nail colour, Colour quick fast dry nail colour and the nail art pens which I wanted HEAPS when I started my nail art. Since I've bought so much lately I didn't purchase any thing from the range but perhaps next month =p

Apologies that all my posts lately have been only about nail stuff, with uni in full swing it's the only thing I can squeeze in - I haven't worn full makeup in weeks! =(
Off to hit the books again. Have a lovely weekend ladies =)

Tiffany & Co manicure
I FINALLY got the chance to do a full manicure using my newly purchased Konad plates tonight. I decided to use China Glaze For Audrey which I just picked up today (and which is now my favourite colour!!) and Konad image plate 59 to do a Tiffany & Co inspired manicure.
CG For Audrey is an absolutely gorgeous colour!! It immediately conjures up images of Tiffany's, Audrey Hepburn and beautiful jewellery. It goes on smoothly and I got opacity with 2 coats. I thought it would be one of those colours that wouldn't really look good on me but it is just a beautiful colour.
I forgot to take a pic of what I used to make life a little easier (sorry!) but it was: Seche Clear base coat, CG For Audrey on tips and accent finger, Konad image plate 59, Konad special polish in white, rhinestones and Seche Vite top coat.
As you can see from above I'm still slowly getting the hang of konading! My placement is off and I smeared the design but practise makes perfect I guess.
I'll post up my new nail colours tomorrow =)

Purple NOTD
It's a beautiful Sydney day today however I'm feeling a bit under the weather for no apparent reason as I have no motivation to do anything. I thought I would do my nails though so here's my purple NOTD.

Here's what i used:

From l-r: China Glaze Princess Grace, CM nail art polish in purple glitter, Nail Star 2 way art pens in black, white and purple and Seche Vite top coat
China Glaze Princess Grace is a pretty pastel purple colour that needs to be built up otherwise it can be quite streaky, I used 2 coats for the base colour here. It does take a while to dry which I found out the hard way because I wrecked 2 nails ARGH!
Hope you like them =)

Happy Valentines Day!
Happy Valentines Day! I know Valentines is tomorrow but because it happens to fall on the same day as Chinese New Year this year, the bf and I decided to celebrate a day early. We aren't really that big into Valentine's as I believe it should be EVERY day (ha!) so we usually just have a nice meal together.
First we'll start off the with my nails of the day (NOTD). I decided to just keep it simple mainly due to the fact that my fimo decided to not cooperate with me grrrrr.

Valentines nails
I used Seche Clear base coat, 1 coat of Seche Rose, 1 coat of China Glaze Fairy dust, fimo was added and then Seche Vite used as top coat.
What have YOU got on your nails today?
For dinner we made reservations for Encasa which is a Spanish restaurant on Pitt St in the city. We decided to only have tapas instead of ordering mains or paella. My apologies for the photos below as they were taken with my camera phone which doesn't perform too well at night or indoors.

Gambas al Ajillo
Gambas al Ajillo - Peeled king prawns in sizzling garlic oil and chilli. So garlicy and delicious the taste still lingers in my mouth!

Patatas Bravas
Patatas Bravas - Fried potato w/ garlic mayonnaise and spicy tomato salsa. One of my favourites! I love taters and this is no exception. The crispy taters with garlic mayo are just too yummy.

Pulpo a la Plancha
Pulpo a la Plancha - Grilled fresh baby octopus. This would have to be one of the BEST grilled baby octopus I have tasted in a long time. Absolutely delicious!

Pinchos Morunos
Pinchos Morunos - Prime lamb fillet skewers marinated in Moroccan spices. Lamb is my favourite meat and this didn't disappoint. The meat was juicy and tender and hit the spot.

Chorizo a la Plancha
Chorizo a la Plancha - Grilled Spanish sausage. The chorizo was too salty for my liking tonight, we didn't even finish half of it.

Ensalada con Queso
Ensalada con Queso - Lettuce, roasted red capsicum, goat’s cheese, olives. Very yummy salad to accompany our meal.
By this time we were absolutely stuffed but needed a sugar fix so we headed over to Capitol Square for dessert at passionflower. No pictures of our dessert "The masterpiece" as it was far too dark.
Of course no trip to Capitol Square is complete without walking around the skill tester machines upstairs above the restaurants were every 2nd girl and her bf have their arms full of the toys that they've just won. Needless to say I don't have their luck, the bf and I have only managed to win stuff 3 times from what seems like 100+ tries, thus why I prefer buying my stuffed plushies from Ladies Market in Hongkong =p
But cupid must have been smiling down because my bf won me a Mario Galaxy mushroom plushie to add to my collection!!!

Isn't he adorable?
To top it all off I was given a beautiful Thomas Sabo bracelet for my currently homeless charms as a gift(EVEN THOUGH WE HAD SAID NO GIFTS).

Thomas Sabo sterling silver bracelet. I'm spoiled!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day no matter if you're in a relationship or not.

Nails Nails Nails
I've been really into nail art for the past months but just haven't had the time to experiment since I began lurking in the Soompi forums and gotten inspiration from the many nail blogs i read (see my blog list). I am nowhere near as talented and patient as the other ladies but here are some of the the designs I've been sporting lately.

Red and silver glitter nails (sorry I'm crappy at coming up with names!)
For these nails i used Rimmel 60 second Be a Star for the tips, CM nail art in silver glitter and Seche Vite for top coat with a flowery Pink Fin brand nail sticker. I find Rimmel nail polishes to be really good and for a reasonable price too, I purchased most of mine at Priceline in their 3 for 2 sale some time ago. The colour range is good and the polish doesn't tend to chip much.

Black tips and red glitter nails
For these I used Rimmel 60 seconds vinyl shine in black out for the tips, CM nail art in red glitter and Seche Vite as top coat. These weren't the best because after i painted the red glitter I painted an extra line of white but I changed my mind after doing it and painted the tips black again haha.

Fimo fruit nails
These fimo fruit nails are my version of the lovely Nikki's nails over at Askmewhats from her fruity fimo nails tutorial from last year. I purchased my fimo sticks from ebay as they were the cheapest and then cut them myself into thin pieces. They come in soooo many different designs like flowers, animals etc. and I'll post my collection another day as I just recieved my latest fimo haul from ebay today =p I am totally obsessed with fimo!!
I used a base coat of OPI Passion and CM nail art in Pearl and Gold glitter on the tips. I then used my thick Clinique All in one base coat to adhere the cut fruits to middle of the nail before using OPI Top coat.
Stay tuned for my Valentines nails next!
