Easter manicure

Happy Easter everyone! I haven't been in the mood for nails or blogging lately and I finally feel like getting back in to it so I'm back today with my Easter mani. The best thing about Easter manis is the excuse to break out the pastels! Not that one really needs any excuse for them haha. I'm pretty happy with how my nails turned out so I think I've got my mojo back!

Here's what I used:

 photo IMG_1210 2 copy_zpsupawio3b.png

Thumbs: I used 2 coats of Orly Snowcone as my base. For the grass I applied thin stripes of China Glaze Entourage and Nail Star two way nail art pen & brush in Green and created clouds using Cult Nails Tempest and a medium dotting tool. I finished it off by adding butterfly and dragonfly fimo.

 photo IMG_1293 copy_zpsw4kfuzmt.png

Index finger: I used 3 coats of Models Own Speckled Eggs Dove which was a birthday present from my lovely friend Aysh. It's such a great pink and speckled polishes are so darn cute!

Middle finger: I used 2 coats of Cult Nails Tempest and freehanded the carrots using Bloom Bettina I and Kester Black Peach Melba*. For the leaves I used Revlon Parfumerie Lime Basil.

 photo IMG_1267 2 copy_zpsbfwila7d.png

Ring finger: I used 2 coats of China Glaze Lemon Fizz and Cult Nails Tempest for the polka dots.

Pinky: I used 2 coats of Barry M Gelly and made a decal using bunny design from Bundle Monster plate BM-H10 using Konad Special Polish in white and filled in the ears using Kester Black Lilac and the eye with Cult Nails Nevermore

Barry M Gelly Nail Effects Grapefruit

I picked up Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Grapefruit when I was in London last year on my honeymoon but I've only recently gotten around to trying it out. Summer is the perfect season to rock this gorgeous bright shade but the weather is absolutely miserable in Sydney at the moment though doh!

I was seriously tempted to buy the entire Gelly Nail Effects range as Superdrug had a 3 for 2 sale while I was there. I absolutely adore Barry M polishes - there is something about the shape of their bottles that I really like and the Gelly collection is amazing. I've built up a nice little collection of their polishes thanks to my lovely friends Christina and Aysh but how I really wish they still sold the brand here. The hubby's family actually used to own a Barry M store way back in the early 90s!

 photo IMG_0077copy_zps787bf53e.png

Grapefruit is a bright cerise pink creme and reminds me of a juicy watermelon instead of a grapefruit. Mmmmmmm! I seem to always be drawn to these types of bright pinks and I have about 2 dozen in my collection I think. Oops! It was a dream to apply and dried quickly to a high gloss shine. I do wish the collection actually had jelly finishes but they have a great formula so I can't complain. 2 coats is pictured with no top coat.

Details: The Barry M Gelly Nail Effects polishes are available from Superdrug, Boots and Barry M online for £3.99.

What's your favourite bright pink polish? Thanks for looking as always!

Pastels and triangles manicure

I forgot to post this mani from a few weeks ago oops! I wanted to use some of the Barry M Gelly polishes I picked up in London on my honeymoon and thought I'd do a somewhat geometric mani. It didn't really turn out how I wanted it to because my stamping for my accent nail was a huge fail and so are my photos but oh well. Bring on Summer and the long days of beautiful sunshine!

 photo IMG_8035copy_zpscc25e60b.png

What I used:

 photo IMG_8039copy_zps6063e80e.png

Pinky and thumb: I used 2 coats of Barry M Huckleberry and added black studs in a triangular design to the middle and bottom of my nails.

Ring finger: I used 1 coat of Cult Nails Tempest and stamped triangular design from Bundle Monster BM 402 using Konad special polish in black.

Middle finger: I used 3 coats of Essie Ignite the Night (thanks to my sis for this glitter!)

Index finger: I used 2 coats of Barry M Rose Hip and added black studs in a triangular design at the top of my nail.

I find I need to stamp regularly or else I lose my skills and end up with major fails! I also need to update my stamping collection too and get some Moyou plates and also indie plates. Any recommendations?? Thanks for looking as always!

Pretty please with a cherry on top manicure

When I'm in a nail art rut Japanese nail magazines always give me that nail boost I need. I haven't bought many nail mags this year actually so I made a trip to Kinokuniya last week to stock up on some mags. Kino has cut back on the number of nail mags they stock which is so disappointing - they didn't even have Nail Up! which is one of my favourites! I still managed to pick up 3 though phew.

 photo IMG_8098copy_zpsd9eb9919.png

I saw this adorable cherry mani in S Cawaii! (which I've never bought before actually) and knew I had to recreate it. I love doing bright summery manis during winter and this is super cute and fun!! Plus it's a fruit mani and you know I adore those! ♥

 photo SCawaiicherrymanimagcopy_zps99d722d7.png

What I used:

 photo IMG_8062copy_zps0ee5689b.png

Pinky and index: I used 2 coats of Barry M Gelly nail effects Grapefruit and added a small gold bead to the bottom centre of my nails.

Ring fingers: I used 3 coats of OPI GoldenEye.

Middle and thumbs: I used 2 coats of Essie Where's My Chauffeur? as my base. To create the cherries I used a dotting dipped in Barry M Gelly nail effect Grapefruit and a small brush to paint the stems using Ulta 3 chocolate cake and for the leaves I used Barry M nail paint Mint Green before adding detail to the cherries using Cult Nails Tempest.

I should have chosen a brighter green because you can't really see the leaves unfortunately but oh well!

My NOTDs will be a bit varied at the moment because I've resorted to using flash because I just can't take pics during the day. The hubby bought me a lightbox a little while ago but I haven't worked out my lighting for it yet. Hurry up and come back summer with your beautiful long days and bright light!

What do you think? Did I do the original mani justice? Thanks for looking as always!

Europe and HK hauls!

HELLOOOOOOOO everyone!! I am back home and it feels weird after being away for a month. I just want to continue honeymooning! It is nice to not live out of a suitcase but the worst thing about returning home is all the unpacking and laundry that needs to be done! URGH. We had an amazing time and I'll try to post some pics later but for now I have some of my hauls for you! We didn't really do too much shopping as we spent most of our time eating, sightseeing and doing more eating but I did buy a few polishes (of course!) and 2 big ticket items in Paris =D

Barry M Textured Nail Paint Station Road + a care package!

Happy Sunday all! Last week I received a wonderful surprise package from gorgeous Aysh. This girl knows exactly how to make my week!! ♥ One of the pretty polishes she sent me was Barry M Textured Nail Paint in Station Road and I have some quick swatches for you today.

 photo IMG_3297copy_zps17772339.png

Station Road is a bright yellow textured polish with a grainy matte textured finish. It has a gorgeous shimmer through it which isn't that noticeable on the nail. I've been really undecided about the whole textured/liquid sand finish but I'm really liking the Barry M ones! The texture is really fine unlike the OPI ones and doesn't feel gritty on the nail. I couldn't stop touching my nails all day actually haha, it's a very unusual texture. It applied a tiny bit thick but dried very quickly. 2 coats is pictured with no top coat.

The package! A sweet card, polishes and mini eggs which were sooooooo delish xD I wish we got them in Aus!

 photo IMG_3211copy_zps8eba8849.png

The gorgeous polishes! I love Barry M polishes and I'm excited to try the Bad Apple duochrome.

Thank you so much lovely Aysh for my surprise package! I love everything =) What do you guys think of the textured trend?

Thanks for looking as always!!

Purple ombré manicure

Hi ladies! I hope you've all had a lovely weekend. I don't have time at the moment for fancy nail art so ombré manicures to the rescue! Today's is purple using some of my favourite purples in my collection.

Starting from my pinky, I used 2 coats each of China Glaze Light As Air, Barry M Berry Ice-Cream, Color Club Pucci-licious, Barry M Dusky Mauve and Illamasqua Baptiste.

Pucci-licious unfortunately is a blurple so it comes out way more blue in my pics than it is in real life.

Ombré manicures are so quick and easy! It's one of the easiest manicures to do but it's still something different ;) I might do up some colour combos later when I have time!

Thanks for looking as always!

St Patrick's Day manicure 2012

Top O' The mornin to ya ladies! It has just ticked over into Saturday which means it's St Patrick's Day today. I don't celebrate but you know me - I just had to get into the spirit and do a St Patrick's Day manicure!

What I used:

Pinky: I used 2 coats of Essence Check Me Out as my base and the best St Patrick's Day glitter EVER - Color Club Object of Envy* which I used last year for my mani (fully swatched here).

Ring finger: A leprechaun hat! I used 3 coats of OPI Alpine Snow as my base and Nail Star Two-Way nail art pen & brush in green to freehand the hat. For the black band I used Kiss nail art paint striper in black and the yellow buckle is done using China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and a small nail art brush. The hat on my right hand is BETTER than my left. Go figure!

Middle finger: I used 2 coats of OPI Jade is the New Black and stamped shamrock-looking design from fauxnad plate B45 using China Glaze Passion and Metallic Muse.

Index finger: A pot of gold!! I started off with 2 coats of Barry M Blueberry ice-cream as my base and for the pot I used Kiss nail art paint striper in black. For the rainbow I used Nail Star Two-Way nail art pen & brush in red, green and blue and Sinful Colors Cloud 9 and China Glaze Happy Go Lucky. The coins are done using China Glaze Passion and a small dotting tool!

Thumb: Irish flag! I used 3 coats of OPI Alpine Snow and then freehanded thick stripes of OPI Jade is the New Black and Sinful Colors Cloud 9.

Will you be rocking green polish today? If you celebrate I hope you have a fab day filled with pints of Guinness! Don't forget to drink responsibly though ;) Thanks for looking as always =)

Birthday cupcake manicure

So today I am another year older! And hopefully wiser but I highly doubt it lol. Now I had intended this to be an ice-cream manicure however everyone said my mani reminded them of cupcakes and NOT ice-cream so I guess it's turned into a cupcake mani!

Here's what I used:

Pinky: I used 2 coats of Barry M Strawberry Ice-cream as my base and Canmake 101 for the chocolate icing. For the sprinkles I used OPI Alpine Snow.

Ring finger: I used 2 coats of Barry M Berry Ice-Cream and OPI Alpine Snow for the icing. For the sprinkles I used China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and Empowerment.

Middle finger: For the base I used China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint and Canmake 101 for the chocolate icing. For the sprinkles I used OPI Alpine Snow and China Glaze Sugar High.

Index finger: I used 2 coats of Color Club Who Are You Wearing? for the base and China Glaze Sugar High for the icing. Sprinkles were China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and Flyin' High.

Thumb: I used 1 coat of NYC Color snazzle and 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday.

I had to break out Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday of course! It's so awesome x)

Gosh I am really loving rocking this mani! I need to practice my drips but oh well. Expect more drippy/ice-cream manis in every different colour in the future LOL.

My gifts from the family and D! The parents gave me an agnès b makeup set and a red packet (ie. cash woot!) and D and my sis gifted me a nail course from Nail Boutique Le M that I've been wanting to do for AGES!!!!!! Yay! D also gave me OPI DS Magic and Extravagance, yummy Adora truffles and a cute Rilakkuma =) My yummyt birthday cake is below!

I hope you all had a lovely day! Thanks for looking and don't forget to enter my 2nd birthday giveaway here!

Anniversary manicure

Hi ladies! I'm nearly back to normal posting =) I have so many things to post about but so little time argh! Today I have the mani I did to celebrate my anniversary last week. I struggled to do something less crazy (like what I usually do!) so I still had to do an accent finger with some stamping lol.

I used 3 coats of Barry M Strawberry ice-cream on all fingers except accent finger and sponged Color Club Sex Symbol* on the tips. For my accent fingers, I used 2 coats of Ulta 3 party shoes and then stamped bird and hearts image (isn't it adorable!) from Konad plate m83 using Konad Special polish in white.

Simple but still with my touch ;) I love doing gradient glitter nails. It looks fantastic and it's so easy to do! I can also get my glitter fix without such a painful removal too lol!

Thanks for looking as always ladies!

Bumblebee manicure

Hi ladies! I've wanted to do a bumbleebee mani for ages now and I finally got a chance to last night! Unfortunately it kinda sucks *hangs head* But woohoo for the awesomeness of DSLR cameras so it doesn't look as crap as it does in real life haha. I need to get better at freehand! Here's my crappy attempt for you.

I used 2 coats of Barry M Blueberry ice-cream as a base. For the trails, I used a small nail art brush* from Born Pretty Store and Kiss nail art striper in black to draw short lines. For the bee, I used a small nail art brush* to draw an oval using China Glaze Happy Go Lucky for the body and added lines and outline using Kiss nail art striper in black. For the wings I used a large dotting tool* also from Born Pretty Store and Kiss nail art striper in white.

For my thumb I wanted clouds! I stamped full cloud design from Konad plate m79 using Konad Special polish in white. Topped it all with a coat of Konad Special topcoat and then a coat of my HG Color Club Vivid Color Intensifying topcoat.

You can't really see from my pics but my Konad topcoat makes my mani bubble!! GAH. But unfortunately when I do nail art using black I almost always tend to be too heavy handed when applying topcoat and end up smearing a finger or two so I need to use the Konad topcoat..

What do you think? Thanks for looking as always! =)

Barry M Instant Nail Effects in Pink Fizz

Hi ladies! Just a super quick pink NOTD for you today. Lovely Christina kindly sent me two Barry M Instant Nail Effects in our last swap and one of them is Pink Fizz. I love that crackle polishes are such a quick and easy form of nail art. It's a bonus that it looks awesome too!

Barry M Instant Nail Effects Pink Fizz is a hot pink crackle polish. In real life the pink is quite a bit brighter - my camera wouldn't capture it properly unfortunately! It's a really girly bright pink which is just the way I love my pinks hehe. Here I've used one coat of Pink Fizz over one coat of Face of Australia Titanium.

Close up:

It applied well and it crackled very quickly! It dried to a matte finish and my pics are all without topcoat. The way these shatter remind me a lot of the Isadora Graffiti Nails (you can read my post here) which I really like. Christina ALSO sent me that polish too! I have the most wonderful friends who indulge my nail art passion ♥

Have you tried Barry M Instant Nail Effects? What do you think? Are you a fan of crackle/shatter?
