Our wedding day part 1 - prep

Earlier this year I got married and as promised I said I'd share the whole experience with you all. These posts have been a long time in the making but I've finally gotten them done!! I blame newly married life lol. I'll be splitting our wedding day into a few posts as there's just so much to cover so be prepared! And yes it's such a cliche but it truly was the most amazing and happiest day of our lives. We had such an absolute blast sharing our special day with our nearest and dearest family and friends. We got engaged in November 2011 and planned our wedding over an 18 month period which I think was fantastic as it gave us plenty of time to plan, organise and save up to make our day exactly how we wanted it.

Our theme for our wedding was "modern Asian" and we couldn't have achieved it without the services of our amazing vendors. I'll do a separate post on them afterwards but I have to give a special mention from the start for Anni Lam and her amazing team from Colour 18 Wedding (Shop 3, 431 Sussex St, NSW 2000) who were absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to make our wedding amazing!

I hope my posts will be helpful for Sydney brides as I didn't really find all that much info relevant for Sydney brides when we were researching. Weddings can be so confusing with SO much stuff aimed at brides that is really quite unnecessary! We didn't follow those guides that say "Oh it's 6 months before your wedding you need to order your shoes" etc as we did lots of things out of order. But of course they're helpful to check that you haven't missed anything ;) I love love LOVE reading about weddings and I hope you'll all enjoy my posts =) If you don't it's all good and just come back tomorrow then!!

For my wedding series posts there'll be a mix of professional photos by our absolutely amazing photographers Joel and Renata from Tealily Photography and some pics my bridesmaids and I took (watermarked ones).

WARNING: THIS POST IS SUPER PIC HEAVY.

I have such an insane amount to catch up on including reviews, wedding posts and an awesome offer for my Aussie readers from next week. Thank you to all my lovely (and patient!) readers for putting up with my erratic posting over the last few months. Life has calmed down and I'll be getting back to posting regularly once more!

Sweethearts.

A few weeks back D and I traipsed around the city for our engagement shoot with the awesome Joel from Tealily Photography. We wanted something different from the usual engagement shoots at the beach/park etc and went for a "date night" theme. We walked from Martin Place down to The Rocks and stopped along the way for snaps.

Words cannot describe how absolutely blown away and in love with our photos I am and I thought I would share a few!

A destination wedding

I love weddings. Of course I'm biased because I'm about to get hitched myself (so it's all I can think about!!) but there is something about them that makes you feel all fuzzy and warm inside. D and I had the pleasure of attending his friend P & L's wedding in Bali at the start of the month. Because it was so close to our wedding, we weren't sure we'd be able to go but in the end we were lucky enough to be able to make it. It's not everyday you get invited to a gorgeous destination wedding!

The wedding was held at the amazing Ayana Resort and Spa which is located in Jimbaran, Bali. It is SERIOUS luxury - I am talking the stuff of dreams! Breathtaking ocean views, luscious tropical gardens, gorgeous villas and not to mention the world famous Rock Bar. I think my jaw literally dropped when I got there.

P & L booked the beautiful AYANA villa for their wedding. 3 bedrooms, pool, spa, luscious grounds and an amazing view. Locations simply don't get much better!

D and I! I wore a gorgeous maxi dress from George that I hired from Glam Corner and I felt like a million bucks in it even though it was 30 something degrees and my face was sweating off!

Unfortunately I didn't get any good shots at the reception because I was far too busy stuffing my face haha! The weather behaved perfectly for them so we got to celebrate outside under the stars. Just magical! It was absolutely amazing - so so blessed to have been a part of it all.

I hope you like these more personal posts ;) I don't have much time for makeup and the like just at the moment unfortunately. Thanks for looking as always!

A weekend filled with love

Hello ladies! It seems like it's been aaaaaages since I last blogged! Not only has work been crazy over the last week, but this weekend D and I had the pleasure of attending the weddings of 2 of D's friends. I LOVE weddings - be it big, small, fancy or simple I love them all. As long time readers will know, D and I got engaged last year (you can peep my post about it here!) and we're slowly starting to plan ours! We had so much fun this weekend it makes me even MORE excited to party at ours =)

The first wedding we attended was T & G's which was held in Terara (about 2 hours drive from Sydney) on Friday afternoon. It was kind of a hassle having to trek out of Sydney but boy oh boy was the venue amazing! It was held at a private estate with the most stunning grounds but sadly I didn't take any good shots but trust me it was spectacular. The whole wedding was just absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The vintage theme was perfect and every last detail was utter perfection!

A short civil ceremony was followed by canapes in the garden while the happy couple took photos. Such a fantastic idea and the food was so yummy!

Table with their wishing well and gorgeous chandelier lights and flowers.

The amazing marquee and the gorgeous vintage settings. LOVE ♥ If D and I were going to have our reception Western style I would so want it to be like this!

How freaking gorgeous huh??!!!!

The gorgeous table setting! No pics of the food as I was the only female on the table and the boys literally WOLFED the food down haha. It was soooooo yummy though!

The second wedding was of D's childhood friend H and P on Saturday. They had a beautiful church ceremony which was very emotional and there wasn't a dry eye in the church.

But it wasn't all emotional as they followed the ceremony with a rocking reception. I didn't take many photos unfortunately because we were having WAY too much fun partying! The dance floor went OFF by the end of the night!

The food!

Both weddings had photobooths so of course D and I had to get in on the fun! We are SO having a photobooth at our wedding next year xp

I haven't had such a fun time in a very long while! Both weddings were amazing and so much fun. I wish both happy couples all the best ^__^

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend =) As planning for our wedding comes along, expect to see some wedding related posts! Never fear though as my blog won't turn into a wedding blog ok! Thanks for looking as always =)

Momofuku Seiōbo 2011

Before I show you the culinary delights from Momofuku Seiōbo, I want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to you all for all the wonderful, sweet and heartwarming congratulatory messages on our happy news!! We are so so touched ♥ I'm sending you all virtual hugs right now!

Momofuku Seiōbo is David Chang's first Momofuku restaurant outside of New York. It's a 15 course tasting menu ($175 currently, $95 extra with beverage tasting) that is inspired by Australian ingredients. It's located at the newly renovated The Star and with it's discrete entrance marked by the lucky peach is actually a little hard to find and we needed to ask directions! We were so lucky to get a reservation for our anniversary night as the online reservation system is a pain to use. D was all prepared when reservations opened online for that day with four windows open and could only get the 8pm sitting after only a minute. Crazy!

Tables of two get to sit at the counter/bar which for me was the highlight of the night (food wise anyway! Getting engaged was the highlight obviously haha). I absolutely LOVED watching the chefs prep and plate the food in the open kitchen and then have them serve it to you. It was simply fascinating to watch them.

Onto the food!!

A proposal..

On Monday night D and I celebrated 7 wonderful years together. We like to splurge and go somewhere extra nice for dinner and this year he decided to keep where we were going a surprise. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy surprises but I really like to know what's happening! I kept bugging him to tell me where we were going but all he would do was drop false hints - like we were going to Sutherland, the cuisine was Turkish contemporary and that he hoped I liked entertainment with my meal lol.

I rushed home after work that day and got ready in lightning speed. I still had no idea where we were going but we were headed to the city as far as I could tell (NOT Sutherland) and Pyrmont way too. As we were early for our 8pm reservation we took a walk around Darling Harbour. Darling Harbour holds a lot of special memories for us as we used to go there a lot for dates ♥ Of course we stopped at nearly every restaurant along the way and he pretended it was the restaurant we were going to x)

I've been wanting to check out The Star (Sydney's casino) since they renovated so we head there and have a look around as we've still got time to kill. He pretends to look for a another restaurant and then reveals that we're going to Momofuku Seiōbo for dinner!! OMG!!!!!!!!! I've been so out of the foodie loop I didn't even know that David Chang had expanded Momofuku to Sydney let alone that they had opened up already!! XDDD

Of course Momofuku Seiōbo was absolutely wonderful - 15 courses of food heaven. We were lucky enough to sit at the chefs counter/bench and it was amazing to watch the chefs cook. I'll be doing a separate post about Momofuku Seiōbo later. D couldn't have chosen a better restaurant and it was SUCH a wonderful surprise. We do love our food so very much!

Since it was a work night I was getting pretty tired by the end of the meal and I suggested we head home to exchange gifts. He insisted we go for a short walk to Darling Harbour to walk to the food off. I'm absolutely full to bursting so I don't complain! We take a stroll and find a quiet spot and sit down to exchange gifts.

D tells me to close my eyes while he gets my present out. I open my eyes and he places a large blue Tiffany's box in my lap and turns to me.. this is for you..

I open the box and inside I find a small porcelain Tiffany Blue Box that I have been coveting since forever..

I open the lid and I find a velvet ring insert in it which is not how it comes... but it's empty.. because it needs something in it.. and D reaches into his pocket.. and pulls out a ring.

It's all not really sinking in at this point yet..

I start crying as he stands up to place himself in front of me and gets down on bended knee. He looks into my eyes.. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.. And then he asks me those four little words - Will you marry me?

I'm a mess at this point - a mixture of tears, mascara and eyeliner is running down my face and I'm too choked for words. Of course I say yes (I think I just managed a tearful nod) and he slides the ring onto my finger. It's a perfect fit.

I'm still in shock and quite emotional at the moment. I am so completely and utterly happy. I cannot believe that D is my fiance and that I get to spend the rest of my life with him. He's my best friend, my rock and my soulmate. Yes it's cliche but dammit it's true. We've been together through the good, the bad, the ugly and the amazing with so much more to come. I can't imagine life without my D and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us! I've been smiling like an idiot since Monday night xD

Enough sentimental stuff, I know you'll be interested in the ring! My absolutely breathtaking and very special engagement ring:

After I'd finished crying I got a proper look at my ring and it took my breath away. It still does! I can only describe it as absolutely perfect in every single way. D designed the ring himself down to the very last minute detail over a few months. It's a 1.01ct diamond in a platinum setting with a white gold band.

The small details he requested from the jeweler are so touching. Our initials are engraved inside the band by the engraver that engraves for Tiffany (I adore Tiffany & Co!!). The bottom prong is heart shaped as well as the prong setting (sorry I don't know the correct terms!). As one of my close friends said it's so very me. I am never ever taking this baby off!

We are SO happy and excited to start this new chapter of our life together! We don't know when we'll get married just yet as there's loads to do 1st. Of course you can expect wedding inspired manicures and other related posts in the coming months though =)

A HUGE thank you to all my tweeps and Instagram buddies for all your congratulatory messages!

At Momofuku Seiōbo on our happy night!

Normal posting will resume soon. I'm still just floating on cloud nine at the moment and haven't been able to concentrate on much! Thanks for looking as always =)
