St Patrick's Day manicure 2012
Top O' The mornin to ya ladies! It has just ticked over into Saturday which means it's St Patrick's Day today. I don't celebrate but you know me - I just had to get into the spirit and do a St Patrick's Day manicure!

What I used:
Pinky: I used 2 coats of Essence Check Me Out as my base and the best St Patrick's Day glitter EVER - Color Club Object of Envy* which I used last year for my mani (fully swatched here).
Ring finger: A leprechaun hat! I used 3 coats of OPI Alpine Snow as my base and Nail Star Two-Way nail art pen & brush in green to freehand the hat. For the black band I used Kiss nail art paint striper in black and the yellow buckle is done using China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and a small nail art brush. The hat on my right hand is BETTER than my left. Go figure!

Middle finger: I used 2 coats of OPI Jade is the New Black and stamped shamrock-looking design from fauxnad plate B45 using China Glaze Passion and Metallic Muse.
Index finger: A pot of gold!! I started off with 2 coats of Barry M Blueberry ice-cream as my base and for the pot I used Kiss nail art paint striper in black. For the rainbow I used Nail Star Two-Way nail art pen & brush in red, green and blue and Sinful Colors Cloud 9 and China Glaze Happy Go Lucky. The coins are done using China Glaze Passion and a small dotting tool!
Thumb: Irish flag! I used 3 coats of OPI Alpine Snow and then freehanded thick stripes of OPI Jade is the New Black and Sinful Colors Cloud 9.

Will you be rocking green polish today? If you celebrate I hope you have a fab day filled with pints of Guinness! Don't forget to drink responsibly though ;) Thanks for looking as always =)
* Product(s) provided to me for consideration but this in no way influenced my review in any way. As always, my reviews are my 100% honest opinion. My Disclosure Policy can be viewed here.

Pink and gold rose manicure
I've been really into doing rose manicures lately (see here and here for examples!) so here's another one to add into the mix =) I hope you don't get bored of seeing my rose manis! My mani today is pink, gold and white themed and uses one of my favourite glitters - Milani Jewel FX Gold.

Here's what I used:

Pinky: I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme wear in White On as base colour. I then konaded rose design from fauxnad plate B01 using China Glaze Passion and added a coat of Essence glitter topcoat.
Ring: I used 1 coat of OPI Glitzerland then added 2 coats of Milani Jewel FX in Gold.
Middle: I used 2 coats of China Glaze Something Sweet as base colour. I then konaded full rose design from Konad plate m56 using Konad Special nail polish in white.
Index: I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme wear in White On as base colour. I then konaded double rose design from Konad plate m76 using China Glaze Admire and added a pink half pearl to the centre of the roses and added a coat of Essence glitter topcoat.
Thumb: I used 2 coats of China Glaze Something Sweet as base colour. I then konaded rose with chain design from Konad plate m65 using China Glaze Passion. I topped if off with a coat of Essence colour & go in Space Queen.

What have you been inspired by lately? I hope you're all having a lovely weekend! Thanks for looking as always =)

Elianto Thistle double bow NOTD
Hi ladies!!
My NOTD today is using wearing Elianto Colour Lacquer in Thistle which I received in my fantastic swap with Nikki.
Thistle is a beautiful pale lilac that looks almost pastel pink in some lighting. It is absolutely bloody beautiful!!! It makes my hands look super white or something and I can't get enough of the colour! It was hard to capture the lilac in it though unfortunately so the pic below looks more pinkish.
Application is pretty good - the brush is a good size and easy to work with, requiring very minimal cleanup. The formula like with most pale shades is a little streaky on so I did a thin 1st coat followed by a slightly thicker 2nd coat. Below is 2 beautiful coats without topcoat and it dried to a high glossy finish.

I konaded full nail design from Konad plate m79 using China Glaze Devotion. I then added the double bows from Fauxnad plate B09 (identical to Konad plate m3) using Konad Princess Polish in Violet Pearl.

Hope you like it! Here are some bonus pics of breakfast at Ikea I had a while ago but never got around to posting. You all know my love for all things Ikea! I'm constantly bugging the boy to go to Ikea for breakfast because it's just so cheap and cheerful. The hot breakfast is only $2.95!!! It used to be only $2 but it's still an absolute bargain, it would probably cost more to make yourself =p
Hot breakfast:

Cinnamon scroll and bread roll:

The boys coffee (with unlimited refills):

I also wanted to thank you all for the wonderful and positive response to my last post about my nail storage =) I'm glad you liked seeing my little nail area and storage! It's nice that I may have inspired some of you to tidy up your nail stash and given you some ideas on how to store your image plates and polishes =) I'm just a neat freak who HAS to have things organised just so and am by no means an expert!
I'm always on the look out for interesting ideas so I'd love to see your storage ideas too! If you come across a great idea or do a post yourself, leave me some link love in the comments of the previous post =) Also, if you have any requests shoot me an email or leave me a comment in any of my posts and I'll try my best.
Hope you all are having a good start to the week! Don't forget to enter my 200 followers giveaway here!

Essie Baby Cakes floral NOTD + my favourite Vietnamese food
Here I am procrastinating again by blogging =p This is a NOTD I did a few days ago but am still wearing using one of the Essie polishes from my mega nail haul 2 weeks ago.
Essie Baby Cakes is a very pretty, light lavender colour with shimmer. I found the 1st coat streaky while 2 coats is opaque, but 3 coats is needed for a perfect finish.

I then added flowers from GCOCL F01 plate using Konad Violet pearl topped with a thick coat of Seche Vite.

GCOCL plate FO1
I haven’t posted many food adventures lately as I haven’t been eating out that much lately. But earlier in the week I went for some Vietnamese food at 2 of my favourite places. Pho Anh in Bankstown is a fast food noodle restaurant specialising in delicious Vietnamese noodle soups. You go to your table; order your noodles as you sit down and the noodles come to the table within 3 minutes. Literally!

Pho tai (Rare beef noodle soup)
They do one of the best Pho as the broth is just SO DAMN GOOD. The secret ingredient is dried sandworm apparently ;) I usually order a small pho tai and if I’m extra hungry extra meatballs to go with it. It's great all year round but it's especially nice on a cold winter day, it just warms you right up!
One of my other favourite Vietnamese restaurants is Bau Truong in Cabramatta. It’s tasty, relatively cheap, and is always reliable. I love the bánh xèo (Vietnamese pancake) which is a savoury pancake filled with fatty pork, prawn (shrimp) and bean sprouts which you dip in nuoc nam sauce. It’s nice and crispy on the outside and then you get all the wonderful textures inside.

Bánh xèo (Vietnamese pancake)
I can’t remember the exact name of the dish that the boy had, but essentially it was prawn crackers topped with rice noodles and grilled beef and lots of herbs. Very yummy!!

Thanks for looking! =)

Orly Once Upon A Time NOTD fail
Hello ladies!!
How has everyone’s week been? I am mightily relieved because I have completed and submitted 2 assignments this week! YAY!! So I thought I would celebrate by trying out 2 new polishes I purchased from Orly’s Once Upon A Time collection. Click the pic below to see the colours and fashion inspirations for the collection.

I saw these a while back and fell in love with each and every colour. The colours are absolutely gorgeous and the names are wonderful – Think Prince Charming, Enchanted Forest etc. They also come with a charm to correspond with the colour name, how awesome is that! Plus I love fairytales and when I see the colours I think Snow White I only purchased Happily Ever After and Mirror Mirror even though I wanted the whole collection which is unusual for me but I just love this collection. However I had self crontol and only purchased 2 =(

Orly Happily Ever After is described as a "deep berry creme" and is my current favourite! It's a dark berry colour with little flecks of purple and blue shimmer which is just gorgeous. The shimmer is subtle but in direct light it just pops. It was very smooth to apply and was opaque in 2 coats.
Orly Mirror Mirror (accent nail above) is described as a "creamy grey neutral". In real life it's a light grey colour and is a nice grey to add to my collection as my 1st grey polish. It was a little streaky on the 1st coat but the 2nd coat smoothed it right out. I was wary of Mirror Mirror after reading reviews but I didn't experience any lumps or bumps. I'm trying really hard to fight the urge to buy the other colours but I think I may give in soon!
Here's a close-up of Happily Ever After so you can see the flecks of shimmer:

Geez this pic makes my finger look really wrinkly!! I did just get out of a long shower though o_O
Now we come to the fail part of this NOTD. I wanted to do a fairytale manicure and konad the stars design using China Glaze Passion and GCOCL plate K05. For some reason it just would not behave and it refused to pick up the stars so I swtiched to the heart design on GCOCL plate A01 because happily ever after means eternal love etc etc. Because I haven't used plate A01 before I had to peel the plastic film off and I cut myself on the edge of the plate!!! F@#$ it was sharp! And it wasn't even the corner of the plate! The moral of my pain is to please be careful when peeling the plastic off your new plates.
Then to top it off I just could not get the placement right and smudged a few nails. Oh well, here is my attempt below and please excuse the bandaid on my rude finger!

Fairytale manicure
Lastly I'll leave you with today's afternoon tea which happens to be one of my favourite foods - pacific oysters - which my fab mum thoughtfully brought home as I'd been busy finishing my assignment!
