Ladurée Patisserie, Sydney
I am a huge lover of macarons so you can imagine my excitement when I heard that iconic French brand Ladurée was opening in Sydney. Yep I nearly lost my s**t haha! It opened last week in Westfield Sydney and on the weekend I stopped by with Anita and Angela to check it out. I had to snap a few pics of course lol. I didn't bring my camera so iPhone pics will have to suffice ;)

Of course they were DELICOUS and at $3.20 each are slightly pricier than your average macaron but still very very reasonable. I wanted to get 2 dozen but just went for 8 lol. My favourites were salted caramel and the marshmallow filled ones - just so damn good! We went early Saturday morning and the wait time was only about 15-20mins. If you're planning to go definitely the earlier the better!
I am waaaaaaaaaaay behind on posts it's not funny. I fail as a blogger HAHA! I hope you're all doing well =)

A day in the mountains
No beauty post for you ladies today but instead I have some glorious food! D and I went for a drive to the mountains on Saturday to indulge in some yummy food and to take some time out. We haven't been for a drive in AGES and the weather happened to be beautiful on Saturday so it was perfect!! The photos in this post will be a mix of Instagram and camera pics ;)
First stop was Leura which is such a gorgeous little town! I love the Leura Candy Store (Shop 6 178 Leura Mall Leura, NSW) which is an old fashioned little candy store. Shelves upon shelves of CANDY!!!! Seriously heaven for this sweets guzzler. I bought a few things but unfortunately my family attacked the sweets before I could take pics!!

Then we headed over to Josophan's Fine Chocolates (132 The Mall Leura, NSW) for a chocolate hit. Oh my goodness this chocolate boutique is so calorie inducing! The award winning chocolates are handcrafted on site and the flavour combinations are quite unusual.

We picked up some choccies to take home but unfortunately I can't remember exactly what we purchased doh! I know the red one is a chilli chocolate, the pyramid is blueberry and the small round ones are lime and basil I think. Sorry for the crappy plating below - it was late when I got home and had to quickly snap a pic before I devoured them!

We had lunch at The Swiss Cottage Restaurant (132 Lurline Street, Katoomba NSW) which is a favourite restaurant of D's from his childhood. It was my first time going and Oh. My. God. It was one of the best meals I've had all year!! It comes second in my top dining experiences of the year after Tetsuya's. I didn't get a main as I'd been snacking all morning though xp

The decor of the restaurant is so quaint! Such old world charm and really puts you in the mood for Swiss/French food.

A dozen escargots ($26). So more-ish. So garlic-y. SO DAMN DELICIOUS.

One of the specials of the day French onion soup ($12). I love French onion soup and I'm hard pressed to find decent ones. This was absolutely delicious and definitely homemade.

Country rosti with grilled cheeses and sour cream ($15). Rosti is one of my favourite dishes and this didn't disappoint at all! Sour cream + cheese + potatoes = winner in my book. I must say D's version is slightly better though ;)

White Farm Rabbit cooked in a basil sauce ($28.50).

The bill is brought to your table in a cute little cow with a bell! So cute x)

Last stop was Bakery Patisserie Schwarz (Shops 1 & 2, 30 Station Street Wentworth Falls, NSW) for a slice of cake and coffee or in my case a hot chocolate. Schwarz Patisserie is a well known German bakery and we just had to make a stop to try out some of the delicious offerings. We ordered a slice of the black forest cake and we had to order another straight away!! D isn't much for sweets but he literally inhaled half the slice in 10 seconds. The cherries were the best bit - huge chunks and so tart and delicious - the best black forest I have ever tasted hands down!

I'll leave you with a pic of the Blue Mountains on Saturday. Could the weather have been any better??!

What did you get up to on the weekend? Did you have any food adventures?
Thanks for looking as always!

A lovely package from Aysh!
A few weeks back I received a wonderful email from the gorgeous and very lovely Aysh who blogs over at Truly Madly Deeply. Aysh blogs about beauty, nails, fashion and also about lifestyle stuff which I love to read! I also love her British ramblings and sayings - like "chin wag" and "bits n bobs" =p She VERY generously offered to send me her extra bottle of GOSH Holographic as she knew I desperately wanted it. I was absolutely floored by her generosity!! I am constantly amazed at the kindness of others in the beauty blogging community =) Of course I couldn't thank her enough and took up her once in a lifetime offer!!

Not only did Aysh send me a bottle of the wonderful GOSH Holographic but she also included some Barry M polishes that were also on my wishlist and a packet of one of my favourite choccies Daim!! *jumps up and down in excitement* I must read like an open book because all you wonderful ladies know my tastes and likes down to a t somehow lol.

The very awesome GOSH Holographic (!!!!!!) and Barry M Berry Icecream. Unfortunately the bottle of Barry M Mint Green Aysh sent didn't make it though =( As you can see below the whole top of the bottle broke clean!! It was such a gorgeous green too ARGH. The GOSH bottle was cracked a little too but the glass is so thick it didn't do much damage phew. Damn mail people! The polish leaked everywhere in the package but thank goodness for remover! The bottles looked like brand new after I was finished with them hehe.

Thank you so much for crossing these off my wishlist Aysh and for the yummy choccies!!! You are such a gem! It's been so lovely getting to "know" you hun and I can't wait to try these out =) I'm glad you liked your package too! Unfortunately it's overcast here in Sydney at the moment so I'll have to wait to try out the GOSH. Make sure you check out Aysh's blog here! She does gorgeous FOTD, NOTD and reviews too =)

Swap with Polish Freshie
I completed some swaps this month and I was lucky enough to have 3 swap parcels arrive on Christmas Eve! It was like Christmas morning that afternoon let me tell you! I couldn't wait to open them all up and play with my international goodies. First package I'm going to show you is from lovely Freshie from Polish Freshie.

So many pretty polishes!

From L - R:
Sinful Colors Hottie, Purple Diamond, Dancing Nails and Pinky Glitter. I love Sinful Colors polishes! They are great quality for the price and I only wish these were more readily available in Sydney.

From L - R:
Icing Sunlit, Glitz & Glamour, Rebellious and Paparazzi. My first Icing polishes. The glitter topcoats look like loads of fun!

From L - R:
Color Club Wild Orchid, Untamed Luxury and Ulta Cocktail Waitress. My camera clearly isn't colour accurate haha. Untamed Luxury is a gorgeous green NOT blue as pictured above. I couldn't be bothered to tweak the colour as it would have made the other 2 colours funny. Greens, purples and neons can be such a pain sometimes! x( The Ulta red is simply stunning!

Freshie also included some thoughtful extras. The little bottle is bubbles which I gave to my boyfriend's little niece as she loves them! My sis kidnapped the tube of M & Ms immediately after I opened the package and devoured them within 15mins haha. I didn't even get one!
Thank you Freshie for this fantastic swap package! I love the colours and I can't wait to try them all out =D

Socceroos NOTD
Hi ladies!! How has everyone's week been so far? I'm currently sick and laid up at home for the day. Boo! I have no idea who I caught this darned cold off but I'm just hoping it passes soon.
I managed to get the energy to do a quick World Cup themed NOTD to show my support for our Socceroos!

This is a really simple manicure but quite effective and patriotic I think! I used OPI Passion as a base and used the brush from Nail Star Two Way Nail Art Pen & Brush in green and yellow to do thin lines of each colour. Please excuse the puncture marks on my index and pinky - I stabbed myself on the sticky tape dispenser at work yesterday lol. I'm such a klutz!!
I'm holding limited edition green & gold Mentos which taste very yummy! I love it when companies bring out themed items =p

I haven't really been following the World Cup much this time around as the matches are played at like 4:30am in the morning and I just can't bring myself to get up at that time. However I might watch the match against Serbia early tomorrow morning because it might be the last time we play but fingers crossed it isn't though!
C'MON AUSSIE!!
Thank you for stopping by =)

Easter sugar overload on cupcakes and churros!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter long weekend! Yesterday the boy and I were in the north shore area so we took the opportunity to visit Chatswood and have lunch and do some shopping. We had a quick lunch at one of the Chinese restaurants and headed to Westfield to do some quick browsing. I haven't been to Chatswood in ages and boy has it changed! Alot of new shops have opened up including one of my favourites Cupcakes on Pitt which I discovered in Westfield.
I absolutely love love LOVE cupcakes and I haven't had one in well over 2-3months, since before I started my blog! I can't believe this is only my 1st post about cupcakes! But I just haven't had time to bake any or cart any home so I greedily jumped at the opportunity to get some yesterday.

The size of their cupcakes were alot bigger a few years ago but they still hit the spot even though they're gone in 2 mouthfuls. They're visually pleasing and come in an assortment of flavours like peppermint; rocky road; lemon meringue; cheesecake and they put out seasonal ones too for Easter and Xmas etc. I've found on occasions when buying from the Pitt St store in the city that the cupcakes can be a bit hit and miss sometimes as they can be a bit dry, but these ones were lovely and moist. I got 6 cupcakes and I'll let the pics speak for themselves =)

Continuing with the sugarfest, I've wanted to try San Churro in Westfield many times as it's on the same level as Kam Fook Chinese restaurant where we like to go for yumcha given the chance (which isn't often).

I LOVE churros but I've found them difficult to find in Sydney just as a snack. Some Spanish restaurants have them on the dessert menu but they aren't always available plus after Tapas it's hard to fit anything else in! There used to be a little churros place on top of Market City but they closed down not long after opening =(

Fondue for Two
We got the Fondue for Two to share and it did not dissapoint! It came with 6 mini churros; little bowls of strawberries, bananas, caramel popcorn and chopped peanuts; 2 brownies; pretzels and marshmallows with a pot of melted chocolate to cover everything in. San Churro reminded me alot of Max Brenner but with a Spanish twist. And I just discovered on their website that they have a store in Glebe!

New domain name and post-test hauls!
Hey guys!
Just wanted to let you know that I have a new domain name given to me as an early birthday present from my thoughtful bf =D You can still access me via the usual blogspot url but it's now much easier! www.cosmeticcupcake.com
I decided to do some celebratory retail therapy at lunch today after a brain draining 4 days at uni. My subject was an "intensive" unit which meant the subject was condensed into 4days instead of spread out over 13weeks and it sure meant intensive - I had 11hrs of classes yesterday! I headed over to Broadway at after my test for some rather well deserved lunch and a bit of shopping.
I picked up a pair of adorable japanese kimmi-ish doll tweezers from a little stand that sold all sorts of adorable stuff like cupcake lipbalms, pjs, coin purses etc. These also came in black, green, blue and pink but the yellow was most striking. I have yet to try them out but even if they're crap at least it's cute!

L - front of tweezers. R - back of tweezers. Please excuse my unmanicured hands =(
I have far too many pairs of earrings but I can't resist cute studs and I just HAD to have these that I found at Diva:

Cupcakes!! Lollipops!! Sweets!! "These are a few of my favourite things...". I 1st began wearing cute/interesting studs when I used to work on the wards as it was the only way to jazz up a boring nursing uniform! Now I work in an outpatient unit I don't need to wear a uniform but because it's still a health environment I think cute studs are the way to go=p
I wanted to mention that Sportsgirl (the one at Broadway anyway) is having a big sale on most makeup items. I saw the bronzers, brushes, pencil and liquid eyeliners, eyeshadows and all night fighter all reduced by about 40%. Get in while it lasts!
As I've mentioned before I love all types of sweets and today I picked up Junior caramels and Junior mints, a steal at $2 from Go-Lo!! I prefer Junior mints but chocolate is chocolate *greedy grin*

Oops I left the price tag on!
I picked up some skincare stuff the other day at Chemist Warehouse which I will do a review for some time soon. I'm a Clinique 3-step girl at heart however due to different reasons (mainly financial) I'm phasing out my 3-step routine and trying some drugstore brands. To start off with I'm running out of Clinique Superdefence and also Super city block and I currently don't feel like paying $90Aus for it! I normally buy my skincare products from Hongkong so it is considerably cheaper however I'm sure drugstore brands will do the exact same job.

From L-R: Nivea Visage Young Be beautiful tinted moisturiser, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunscreen and Cetaphil Oily skin cleanser
I picked up Nivea Visage Young Be beautiful tinted moisturiser, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunscreen and Cetaphil Oily skin cleanser. Reviews shortly!
Annnnnnnnd my bf also gave me a Kimmi junior pen as a early birthday gift which is just too adorable for words! I actually used to have hair exactly like this when I was 4!

I hope everyone has a great weekend planned!

Help for Haiti parcels
Yesterday my little sis and I recieved 2 parcels in the mail that we had gotten from the Livejournal Help for Haiti Auction. It involved bidding on items from all around the world that people put up for auction with the winners donating the amount to a specified charity to help Haiti. My sis "won" 2 packages - one from England and one from the Netherlands.
I am a HUGE fan of sweets and in particular British sweets - sherbet lemons, flying saucers, wine gums, fruit gums you name it i love it! This box contained some quintessential British choccies and biscuits and some really cute candles too.
British stuff is pretty readily available (thought pretty pricey) in Sydney so my sis and I were really excited to open the Dutch package. The girl who organised it was so sweet and thoughtful as she handwrote little notes on every single item explaining what the item was and if it was a food item how to eat it etc.
She included SO much stuff in the package it must have taken us at least an hour to go through everything! There were Dutch sweets, mints, pancake mix, biscuits, waffles, chocolate, nougat, postcards and clogs. We can't wait to try everything but then again everything is just so special we want to save it =p
British sweets are available in Sydney from shops like Treats from Home and The British Lolly shop but they charge quite steeply for this privilge. That's why I was totally shocked and totally excited when I saw Chewits and Maynards winegums on sale for only $1 (!!!!) at Go-Lo today at Broadway.
The packaging of the winegums is different to the red packaging I'm used to but the winegums taste similar. The chewits are exactly the same but waaaaaay cheaper. Score! I didn't get enough time to see if they had any other sweets of interest because the textbooks I'd hiked out to get were weighing me down but next time i will ;)
Last night I made pizzas for dinner with lebanese bread which is quick and easy and (what I like to think!)a healthier option to normal pizza. It was yummy!
