Cosmetic Cupcake

Today I have a quick hot pink mani for you guys. Sometimes I get really sick of my manis so I have to change my polish daily. Normally I do it 2nd daily xp I usually only have time for a plain mani if I'm changing my polish everyday but I can't have a mani without nail art so I have to compromise and just add a glitter accent or a nail decal lol. This mani was a 15minute job that I'm not very happy with but I got quite a few compliments on it. Weird!

I stuck the Hello Kitty nail sticker upside down. FAIL.
I used two coats of OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips* from the Holland collection on all fingers. In real life the colour is slightly darker than my photos. By the way I'll have my swatches and review of the Holland collection up very soon for you all! I used 1 coat of Essie Luxeffects A Cut Above on my ring finger and 1 coat of Shine of the Times on my middle finger.


I then added some cute heart and bow Hello Kitty nail stickers* I received from Born Pretty Store which you can find here. They are so adorable and excellent quality! Happy Halloween ladies!! Here is my Halloween mani for 2011. Halloween is definitely getting a lot more popular here in Aus. The stores are filled with costumes, props etc and most importantly there's heaps of limited edition Halloween food products available eeeeeeeek! I'm such a sucker haha. Now I only started my mani at like 10:30pm last night so my mani was a very last minute job but I think it turned out ok! I hadn't really thought out my mani properly (usually I plan a day or 2 before!) so I sort of just hoped for the best x) Frankenstein looks a little angry and cross-eyed but oh well haha!


Here's what I used:


Pinky: I used 2 coats of Color Club Wild at Heart and added Pa pumpkin Halloween sticker and silver Essence nail art glitter mix star dazzling gifted to me by my dear Christina.

Ring finger: Frankenstein nail! I used 3 coats of Sinful Colors Mint Apple and used Kiss nail art striper in black and a small nail art brush for Frankenstein's hair and mouth. For the eyes I used 2 different sized dotting tools* from Born Pretty Store and OPI Alpine Snow and Ulta 3 Black Satin.

Middle finger: Spider nail! I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors Cloud 9 as a base. I then freehanded the spider web using Kiss nail art striper in white and konaded spider design from Bundle Monster plate BM13 using Konad Special polish in black. Topped it off with a coat of my favourite China Glaze Fairy Dust!

Index finger: I used 2 coats of Ulta 3 Black Satin as a base and added a line of gold glitter down the middle using Art Deco striper in gold glitter. I then added Pa evil pumpkin and red ghost nail sticker and Essence nail art glitter mix silver star dazzling from Christina.

Thumb: Mummy nail! I used 3 coats of Color Club Who are you Wearing? as a base. I then used a small nail art brush to draw an oval using Kiss nail art striper in black and then used the striper to draw the lines. For the eyes I used 2 different sized dotting tools* from Born Pretty Store and OPI Alpine Snow and China Glaze Phat Santa.

How cute is this pumpkin lollipop! It was sent as part of a PR pack hehe

Hi ladies! I had no idea what on earth to call this mani so "Spring fever" it is haha. The weather has FINALLY warmed up here in Sydney so I needed a mani to go with the warmer weather. I'm so sick of the cold!


Here's what I used:


Pinky: I used 3 coats of Essie Van D' Go* as a base and added a bow nail sticker I bought in HK.

Ring finger: I used 1 coat of OPI Glitzerland and added a few coats of Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow. Unfortunately Boom Boom Pow isn't as opaque as I had hoped even after a few coats but it's still another gorgeous glitter from the awesome Deborah Lippmann!!

Middle finger: I used 2 coats of Barry M Berry Ice cream.

Index finger: I used 3 coats of China Glaze Empowerment as a base. I think Empowerment is one of my favourite pink polishes seriously! I then konaded full dot image from Konad plate m79 using Konad Special polish in white.

Thumb: I used 3 coats of Essie Van D'Go* as a base. I then konaded bow design from Konad plate m59 using Konad Special polish in white and finished off by adding a silver rhinestone to the centre of the bow.


I forgot how much I loved this Konad bow design! It looks so sweet paired with Van D'Go and is a perfect combination for Spring/Summer in my opinion. Full swatch and review of Van D'Go to come ;)

Hi ladies!! A super quick NOTD for you today using one of the Nicole by OPI lacquers I picked up in HK. My Lifesaver is from the Justin Beiber One Less Lonely Girl collection and although I'm not a Beiber fan, darn some of the colours in the collection are pretty!!

My Lifesaver is a gorgeous turquoise cream that reminds me of China Glaze For Audrey. I ADORE colours like this but my camera just hates them ARGH! My camera made the colour look way too blue and I had to tweak the colours to make them even close to accurate. I don't want to show swatches that aren't correct.


It applied relatively well - I don't think I waited long enough between coats so I had some dragging. I must say I am not a fan of the Nicole by OPI brushes and I had some difficulty using it. It's curved and just strange to me! I guess I'll have to get some more polishes so I can practise using the brush ;) 3 coats is pictured and I added a nail sticker for some quick nail art!

Hi ladies! The last few days I've been very nail art uninspired so I was stumped how to do my nails this weekend. When in doubt I go for something girlie using my two favourite colours purple and pink! Here's the quick mani I came up with.


What I used:


Pinky: I used 2 coats of China Glaze Encouragement as a base. I then used Kiss Nail art Paint striper in white to draw stripes.

Ring finger: I used 2 coats of Cult Nails Devious Nature as a base. I then stamped full heart design from Konad plate m83 using Konad Special Polish in white and added 1 coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust.

Middle finger: I used 2 coats of China Glaze Encouragement as a base. I then added a heart nail sticker I purchased from Hong Kong to the base of the nail and added a thin french tip using Kiss Nail art Paint striper in silver glitter.

Index finger: I used 2 coats of my favourite purple creme China Glaze Grape Pop as a base. I then stamped full dots design from Konad plate m79 using China Glaze Millenium.

Thumb: I used 2 coats of Cult Nails Devious Nature and 1 coat of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure as a base. I then added a heart pearl/rhinestone nail sticker that came as a freebie with one of the nail magazines I picked up earlier this year.

I had to work on Saturday (which SUCKED) but yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting up with some gorgeous Sydney blogger ladies for a nail shopping trip and lunch which was so much fun! It made my weekend =) On another note, I'm currently doing the Schkinny Maninny fruit and vegetable detox for the next 3 days and so far it's been alright. I am just craving food SO BADLY!!! I'm pretty darn tired at the moment too doh. I'll be doing a full review of the cleanse soon ;)

Hi ladies! Tomorrow is my 25th birthday (OMG!) and I want to show you my manicure that I spent most of my night doing instead of doing pre-coursework for my training day on Thursday =p This post will be light on words as I must get to bed!


I tried to incorporate birthday things that I love! Glitter, cake, sweets, icecream and flowers amongst many other things =)


Here's what I used:

Pinky: I applied 2 coats of OPI What's with the Cattitude? and added icecream nail stickers I got from HK and 1 coat of Essence Glitter topcoat.

Ring fingers: I applied 1 coat of NYC Color Snazzle and 2 coats of Milani Jewel FX in Silver.

Middle fingers: I applied 2 coats of American Apparel Office (I love this colour! Thanks Alice!) and added cake and candy nail stickers also from HK. I then applied some half pearls and silver rhinestones. The design on my right hand is slightly different.

Index fingers: 2 coats of China Glaze Empowerment and floral nail sticker.

Thumb: 2 coats of Illamasqua Wink. I then konaded the present design from fauxnad plate b34 using Konad Special polish in white and added a purple clay bow. The design is upside down doh!



The boy came by late tonight to give me my birthday gift early! He told me he had a "cake" for me and pulled this out:


Eeeeeeek how adorable is it! You should have seen the huge grin on my face when I saw it lol. He always makes such a huge effort to surprise me and he's so thoughtful and creative with his gifts! He definitely puts me to shame when it comes to gift giving xD He takes my blog so seriously and he knows my love of cupcakes haha. The cupcake liner even matched the Tiffany blue!


I love charms and I've been lemming this particular cupcake one for aaaaaages but I can never justify the price. Actually I can never justify the price of Tiffany jewellery (especially here in Aus) but anyway it's now mine!!


Rilakkuma has a little suction thingy at the back so he's going on my mirror =)

Hi ladies! I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. I am completely knackered at the moment after having just worked 9 days in a row x) It was mostly self inflicted of course but I have so much blog reading, blogging and housekeeping to do before it all starts again!!

I have a NOTD for you that I did a few days ago to help lift my mood. I used Essence High Waist Pink from the Denim Wanted! collection that Christina sent me for my birthday! This lovely bright polish was perfect to see in the end of Summer.


High Waist Pink is a lovely creme polish that's more coral than bright pink on the nail. In real life the colour is lighter than in my pictures, it's another hard polish to capture! High Waist Pink is the perfect colour for Summer/Spring and I think I'll use it as a pedicure colour soon. It was a bit streaky to apply so I used 3 coats and a coat of Color Club Vivid Color Intensifying topcoat to even it out. I then applied some Essence nail stickers Christina also included in my birthday package on my accent fingers. A quick and simple NOTD!

My post today will be short and sweet as I've run out of creative juices at the moment. I'm also not in a very festive mood - I'm still in my post holiday slump and it's taking longer than usual to get back in to the swing of things. I wanted to do 10 different designs but I drew a complete blank when I sat down to polish my nails so this mani is very simple. As usual I ran out of days to do all the festive themed manicures I wanted haha. Here is another Christmas mani for you all =)


My thumb was a failed attempt at Christmas lights - I definitely need more practise at freehand nail art. I used some more of the awesome water decals I found in HK and this time around it was much easier to use them. You can't really tell in this pic but I tore my left thumb nail today!!

The polishes I used:


Pinky: 2 coats each of China Glaze Mistletoe Kisses and Party Hearty.

Ring finger: Gold gradient nail using China Glaze Midnight Kiss for top 1/3 of the nail and 5 Golden Rings on top 2/3 of nail. I then placed snowflake and angel nail stickers which I hauled in HK.

Middle finger: 2 coats of Ulta 3 Lily White topped with 1 coat of China Glaze Frosty. You can see the lovely shimmer up close! Frosty was also fantastic over the white because it covered the streakiness of 2 coats hehe. I then placed a stocking water decal on top (also from HK).

Index finger: 2 coats of China Glaze Ruby Deer and Christmas Tree water decal on top (also from HK).

Thumb: 2 coats of China Glaze Sugar Plums as base. I then used CM nail art striper in Pearl to draw the wire and then used yellow, blue, red, metallic green polishes for the lights.

I then topped it off with a coat of Color Club Vivid Color Intensifying topcoat (2 coats for some fingers). I very kindly received this from Color Club NZ and I'll be using it for my upcoming manis. So far so good!


Do you get times when you've planned something fun and then it just doesn't evolve when you do your manicure? I hope this passes soon!

This week at work has been one of the worst I've ever had. Constant fights, tantrums, a lack of doctors, crazy workload.. It's full moon so everyone is going bat crazy! I needed to relax so I decided to take some time out and do a Halloween skittles mani. I'm loving doing different designs on each nail, it's a lot of fun plus I get to try some of my many untrieds!

I wish I could spare more time so I could do more full manicures with the designs. I got inspiration for these designs from some of the great blogs I follow! I think my left hand turned out really well but my right hand was pretty much a fail because nothing I wanted actually turned out properly. My middle finger was supposed to be candy corn but my polishes would not cooperate! So I gave up and just used trusty Grape Pop and flakies instead.


Left hand:
Thumb: 2 coats of Color Club Wild at Heart with freehanded spider web using Kiss nail art striper in white.

Index: 2 coats of Sinful Colors Mint Apple as base, BYS Black Satin for the hair, CM nail art pen and striper in white and black for eyes and Kiss nail art striper in black for the mouth.

Middle finger: 2 coats of Essence Undead with Pa witch nail sticker.

Ring finger: 2 coats of Sinful Colors Cloud 9 with pumpkin design from Konad plate m13 using Konad special polish in black.

Pinky: Rimmel I love lasting finish in Double Decker Red with spider design from Bundle Monster plate BM13 using Konad Princess polish in Black pearl.


Right hand:
Pinky: 2 coats of Sinful Colors Big Daddy and 1 coat of BYS Cracked polish in black.

Ring finger: 2 coats of of The Face Shop OR202 with bat design from Bundle Monster plate BM13 using Konad Special polish in black.

Middle finger: 2 coats of China Glaze Grape Pop and 2 coats of Nubar 2010.

Index finger: 1 coat of BYS Black Satin with skull design from Konad plate m13 using China Glaze Devotion.

Thumb: 2 coats of Essence Undead, Kiss nail art striper in black for vertical stripes and spider design from Bundle Monster plate BM13 using China Glaze Devotion.

WHEW! I'm knackered now. Which design do you like the best? I'll be MIA for the next few days as my exam for my final subject is being released tomorrow so I'll be attempting to steer clear of browsing blogs and the net until it's due on Wednesday. Here's hoping x) Thanks for looking!

I have for you today my 1st ever Halloween manicure - a quick and simple NOTD using flakies and nail stickers. We don't really celebrate Halloween here Down Under however in recent years the presence of Halloween has increased. I would LOVE to go to the States during Halloween to enjoy the festivities!


I started off with a coat of BYS Black Satin which I've featured in a previous post. I then applied 2 coats of Nubar 2010 flakie to get an orangey look. FLAKIES!! I just love the way flakies look and the way they look different depending on the lighting. I couldn't stop staring at my nails and my workmates were all gaga over the flakies too and they loved this mani!


I then applied these totally awesome Pa Jack O' Lantern nail stickers (which I got from lovely Christina!) on my accent fingers and thumbs. I then topped it off with a coat of Poshe topcoat.



On day 2 of wearing this I decided to matte-ify it using Essie Matte About You.


I love the matte look! I think the flakies look even better and stand out so much more when matte. What do you think?

I'm currently in blogging and nail polish withdrawal!! Someone give me some valium STAT lol. I'm trying (not very) hard to do my readings and my assignment for uni which is this weekend but obviously it's not working and here I am procrastinating for a very quick post!

Thank you for the kind messages and stories about your own technology mishaps, it gave me encouragement and made me feel a lot less like a noob =) The boy managed to recover quite a bit of my stuff but alot of my documents and photos are corrupted unfortunately. But of course getting some things back are much better than none. I did get a bit upset at losing my stuff (I'm sensitive what can I say haha) so I decided to do a bright manicure to cheer me up over the weekend. If you follow me on Twitter you would have seen a quick pic of this mani already but of course will much less quality pics. I decided to do a cheerful yellow manicure using China Glaze Lemon Fizz from the Up & Away collection. I absolutely adore this collection! The colours are so bright and are simply gorgeous and so very "me".


Lemon Fizz is a pale pastel yellow creme perfect for Spring or Summer. I don't really like yellows on me that much as my skintone is yellow, but being a pastel it looked decent and I really enjoyed wearing it. It's such a cute yellow and is definitely one to get if you're like me and shy away from the bright yellows. I had no issues with the application - I did a thin 1st coat followed by a thicker 2nd coat and it dried to a glossy finish. Thing to note, is that on the 1st coat the colour on the nail is quite similar to the bottle however it gets darker with subsequent coats. Above is 2 coats without topcoat.

Then I added some nail stickers that my workmate gave me to jazz it up. I can't have a "naked" mani - ie. just plain polish - anymore unless I'm in a HUGE rush nowadays. I just have to add SOME type of nail art or I'm not satisfied! =p

I should be doing my paper but here I am procrastinating again! I am so bad =(

Well here is my manicure from yesterday using Dim Sum Plum from the OPI Hong Kong collection. When the collection 1st came out, I wasn’t interested as I’m not a big fan of OPI as I find it chips very easily on me and at $20 a pop definitely not worth it. Then the thought of trying a collection inspired by where my family is from (which also happens to be one of my favourite places in the world!) took over and I looked up the swatches and just fell in love.


Dim Sum Plum is absolutely GORGEOUS!! It’s a rich plum colour which looks fantastic with anything. I love it! It’s very pigmented so you could probably get away with only1 thick coat, however in my manicure I used 2 coats. Keep in mind that the colour can look different in different lighting. The pro wide brush made it super easy to apply and it just glided onto my nail. It also required very minimum clean up which is always great as it cuts down time for someone as time poor as me!

I then used flowery nail stickers from Pink Fin for some quick nail art. I’m definitely going to add more OPI to my nail stash after trying this collection!
