Review: Scandal Cosmetics Heart Lacquer Base and Top coat

I think over the years I’ve tried and tested at least 2 dozen different base and top coats in the quest to find the perfect combination. I’m lucky I’ve found my Holy Grail top coat but I like to mix my base coats up every so often and I’m always interested in discovering new top coats! Just in case there’s a better combo out there ;) Today I’m reviewing Scandal Cosmetics Heart Lacquer base and top coat.

The Heart Lacquer base coat is a light pink shade and has a thin milky formula that dries very quickly to a matte finish.

The topcoat has a thin formula and dries to a wet look shine. I used the “floating” technique to apply it over nail art and no smudging woohoo! Non-smudging is a very important factor to me. It was dry to the touch in 15minutes and fully dry in 30mins. Unfortunately this is just way to long for me to wait for my top coat to dry as I polish my nails right before bed =(

Overall: I’m enjoying the Heart Lacquer base coat however the top coat just isn’t suitable for me due to the long dry time. I love when companies make their treatments completely different in the bottles (base coat is milky pink and top coat is blue) so there’s no chance of accidentally grabbing the wrong one.

  2. 30 minutes is way too long. I need mine dry in about 5-10 max so that I can do other things like wash dishes or change diapers, lol.

  3. How well does the base coat work to stop staining from darker/prone to stain nail colours?

  4. 30 mins is a long time! As soon as I´m going to do my nails properly, with like 2 or 3 layers, I ALWAYS end up chipping or smudging or whatever..argh!:P

  5. Thanks for the review! I agree about liking the fact that one is pink and the other blue if you are going to use them both!
