Bumblebee manicure
Hi ladies! I've wanted to do a bumbleebee mani for ages now and I finally got a chance to last night! Unfortunately it kinda sucks *hangs head* But woohoo for the awesomeness of DSLR cameras so it doesn't look as crap as it does in real life haha. I need to get better at freehand! Here's my crappy attempt for you.
I used 2 coats of Barry M Blueberry ice-cream as a base. For the trails, I used a small nail art brush* from Born Pretty Store and Kiss nail art striper in black to draw short lines. For the bee, I used a small nail art brush* to draw an oval using China Glaze Happy Go Lucky for the body and added lines and outline using Kiss nail art striper in black. For the wings I used a large dotting tool* also from Born Pretty Store and Kiss nail art striper in white.
For my thumb I wanted clouds! I stamped full cloud design from Konad plate m79 using Konad Special polish in white. Topped it all with a coat of Konad Special topcoat and then a coat of my HG Color Club Vivid Color Intensifying topcoat.
You can't really see from my pics but my Konad topcoat makes my mani bubble!! GAH. But unfortunately when I do nail art using black I almost always tend to be too heavy handed when applying topcoat and end up smearing a finger or two so I need to use the Konad topcoat..
What do you think? Thanks for looking as always! =)

ReplyDeleteThis is just so cute!
ReplyDeleteEeeeeee so cute! :P
ReplyDeleteAdorable!!! >o<
ReplyDeleteI think it looks very pretty! Actually, sometimes, no matter how bad it looks it always gets credit for being free-handed. Some people just have more practice than others :) But yours is not that bad at all ^__^ It's a tribute to Spring!!!! (It's Winter now where I live).
ReplyDeleteMy son said "Bellissime" (very pretty) so it's not a fail mani :), I find them really funny, too!
ReplyDeleteI think it's adorable! Saaw you talking about it on Twitter and it really did turn out nicely!
ReplyDeletelooks so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou call THIS a fail?!?! Chelle! Tis awesome! Haha oh gosh, you wanna see bubbly nails? Well you saw my attempt at photographing the Models Own Aqua Violet! Lol! That was just diabolical! ;) But at least I've learnt now to make sure I use a decent base/topcoat!
ReplyDeleteLove Aysh xoxo
I love the little clouds on your thumb, so cute!
ReplyDeleteI think this is super cute! I have totally tried to do a little bee on nail wheels before and for something so simple, it does seem to always end up as a fail! lol. Love the little clouds and buzz lines! Adorable mani as always :-D
ReplyDeleteIs this from Bubzbeauty? Just wondering.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your sweet comments ladies =) The camera glossed over the messy parts of this mani - trust me in real life it did not look very adorable!
ReplyDelete@Akuma: LOL thank you lovely!! Some freehand I'm ok with but I just couldn't get the bee to work or the trails to be neat. Yes it's my tribute to spring! It's wet and rainy in Sydney today though unfortunately =(
ReplyDelete@maisenzasmalto: Grazie!
@Amanda: Thank you Amanda =) It looks MUCH better in my pics than it did in real life!
@Aysh: You didn't see it in real life!! The camera hid about a thousand flaws! I should have take a pic of the bubbles in my thumb - OMG so many! LOL don't worry we all have to learn. Aqua Violet is such a gorgeous polish no one saw the bubbles ;)
ReplyDelete@Melinda: Glad you liked it Melinda! I loved it too, I'm going to be doing another mani using the clouds hehe.
@Megan: Omgish I'm so glad I'm not the only one who finds it hard!! It looks so simple right??? Awww thank you so much. It didn't turn out as nicely as I'd hoped so thanks for your kind words Megan!
ReplyDelete@Berrie: Hi there. I've seen many versions of this mani floating around so was inspired by many to do my own version. I've had a look at Bubzbeauty's one and it's very nice. My mani has my own twist - I stamped clouds on my thumb, outlined the bee, and positioned it on my middle finger (instead of the thumb as many others have done).
I don't really appreciate what you're insinuating here. I ALWAYS take great care and effort in crediting my nail inspirations.
it's too cute to be ashamed of :D!! trust me xD
ReplyDeleteand painting is difficult anyways lol
but I love love love this blueberry ice-cream!!!
