essence metal glam collection swatches and review
Today I have the latest essence trend edition collection for you - the metal glam collection! From the name it obviously contains metallic hues. I have a love hate relationship with essence LE products because they always sell out so darn quickly before I can get my hands on the products. I have seen the collection in stores recently so you should still be able to get your hands on the collection ;) The metal glam collection consists of metallic polishes, eyeshadows, lipgloss, a highlighter, cream blush, stick on nail stickers and stick on eyeliner. I was sent a selection of the products to try out so keep reading to see my swatches and review after the jump!
What they say:
"Metallic glam slam! the fall season is going to be dramatic, sparkly and metallic with essence. The trend edition “metal glam” creates awesome beauty looks with a true glamour factor! During the run up to the festive season, it’s ok to go a little over the top – and you’re sure to sparkle with this world of colors consisting of gold, silver, bronze, purple, apricot and green – all with a metallic effect.
In addition to a touch of shimmer for your eyes, lips, face and nails, this trend edition offers highlights like the stick on eyeliner in dramatic rosé-gold and silver, a blush with a surprising powdery-metallic finish and the stick on jewels for an amazingly glamorous look on your body!"
Of course lets start off with my favourite part of every essence LE collection - the polishes. There are 4 metallics and a gold topper in the metal glam collection.
Steel-ing the Scene ($2.95) is a warm copper metallic. I've been looking for a warm copper like this for ages so I'm super happy to add it to my collection! It's opaque and 2 coats is pictured.
Petal to the Metal ($2.95) is a gorgeous pale purple metallic. It's nice and opaque but it tends to drag so ensure you allow dry time in between coats. 2 coats is pictured.
Glamour Girls ($2.95) is a pale greeny gold metallic. 2 coats is pictured.
Gold Digger ($2.95) is a cool toned metallic gold which looks more like a nude on the nail. I'm not a huge name of the shade because it just makes me want to break into song and I find the song soooo annoying Xp
Steel-ing the Scene gold topper ($2.95) is filled with gold shards in a clear base. There are plenty of flakes in the bottle but I found it difficult to get them on the nail so had to use the dabbing method.
Here I've layered 2-3 coats of the topper over 2 coats of each of the metallic shades.
Onto the makeup!
The essence metal glam blush ($4.95) is a cream blush and dries to a cool apricot powdery finish. I love these sort of apricot/peachy shades!! It's quite bright and contains a bit of glitter so best to apply with a light touch. It blended pretty well but definitely work fast!
essence metal glam shadow($4.25) is a warm gold shadow. It's super pigmented and a single swipe gives a good wash of colour. Unfortunately it's pretty glittery and I found removal difficult.
essence metal glam highlighter powder ($5.35) is a beautiful champagne highlighter. It blends well, has good staying power and gives just the right amount of glow without the hard work. A definite highlight (pun intended!) of the collection.
The collection also includes essence metal glam stick on jewels ($3.50) and stick on eyeliner ($3.50).
Overall: I'm normally a huge fan of the essence trend edition collections however metal glam is a bit hit and miss for me. I do love me a bit of metallic but the eyeshadow is just a tad too glittery for me. The cream blush is a gorgeous shade however a bit glittery for everyday use but wearable when used sparingly and applied with a stippling brush. I love the highlighter and especially for the price it's absolutely fantastic! The polishes are fab and applied well so I'd highly recommend picking those up along with the highlighter. You can't have too many metallic polishes in your collection! I do wish the gold topper applied a little easier but I can't complain.
Details: The essence Metal Glam collection is available now from selected Priceline and Priceline Pharmacies Australia wide.
Thanks for looking as always!

ReplyDeleteWoohoo glad you got them Jasmine!! The polishes are awesome =D
DeleteI'm not a fan of glittery eyeshadows either. I'll probably give it a miss but I do love some of those nail polish shades!

The fallout from glitter shadows just drives me mad as well as removal!
DeleteLove the pretty polishes! I know what you mean about drag, some of the lighter Essence polishes seem to go streaky on me. Also that highlighter is amazing, I love it :)
ReplyDeleteMost of the polishes from this collection have sat in my untrieds pile since I got them :c You've made me want to wear Petal to the Metal now!
