NEW Glitter Gal holographics swatches and review
I am so excited today to share my swatches and review of 9 NEW holographic shades from Aussie brand Glitter Gal which will be released later this week. SQUEEE! Holographic polishes make me weak at the knees and these are no exception. The polishes have a new updated formula and as always are 3 Free meaning they contain NO Formaldehyde, NO DBP and NO Toluene. The polishes consist of 7 linear holographic shades and 2 creme holographic shades (like Ballerina and Light as a Feather).
Warning: this post is PIC HEAVY! For reference 2 coats is pictured for all polishes with no top coat. I did 1 thin coat followed by a thicker 2nd coat.
Due to customer feedback, Anna and Kerry have updated from 9ml bottles to a larger 10ml bottle size and it will be priced exactly the same too! I love when a brand listens to their customers and accommodates their wishes. Here's a comparison pic of the new and old bottles:
New 10ml size on the left and old 9ml size on the right.
Belgium Chocolate looks exactly like its name and is a BEAUTIFUL chocolate brown holographic. It's my absolute favourite from the collection! As soon as I saw it I immediately thought chocolate so the name is perfect. Seriously you cannot get much better than chocolate + holo *tries not to nom on my fingernails*

Citrine is a warm amber gold holographic. It doesn't look all that great with my skintone unfortunately but I really like the colour so I'll be rocking it anyway xp

As the name suggests, Lavender is a delicate lavender holographic. It's so girlie and pretty! I adore shades like this.
Sunlight:
Artificial light:
Nude is a light tan holographic and is the perfect nude shade. It's a great work appropriate holo! It's slightly sheerer than the other shades so you might want to do 3 coats for a deeper look. I actually prefer a sheerer look for a quick go to shade.

Artificial light:
Blue Suede Shoes is a gorgeous bright sky blue holographic. In my sunlight swatch photo you can see a hint of the clear blue Sydney skies and it's a pretty close match! This is one of the creme holographic shades and although I prefer the linear formula this is SO darn beautiful it's another one of my favourites.
Sunlight:
Artificial light:
Teal Green is a dark teal holographic. I love these darker holo shades so much! It looks almost dark blue in some lighting. It reminds me of mermaids!
Sunlight:
Artificial light:
24 Carat is a cool toned gold holographic. It is SUPER blingy and especially in the sun it's blinding! There aren't too many gold holos out there so I love the addition of this.
Sunlight:
Artificial light:
Green Suede Shoes is a pale yellow toned foam green holographic. This is the other creme holographic shade and the holo effect is quite subtle on the nail. It's similar to China Glaze L8R G8R but softer and with a scattered holo effect.
Sunlight:
Artificial light:
Teal Blue is a deep blue toned teal holographic. My pictures don't do this gorgeous colour justice - the holo is really strong and it's simply stunning.

Overall: First things first the new formula is AH-MAAAAZING. It applied like BUTTER and I noticed a difference immediately. I was never in love with the original formula and I thought the formula from last year was a good update but this just takes the cake! The formula is thin but not watery and I experienced none of the usual holo application issues - no streaking, no balding and no patchiness whatsoever. It simply does not get much better than this!
I love the new selection of colours and I especially like the addition of so many great blues, greens and yellow shades. My favourites from the collection are Belgium Chocolate, Blue Suede Shoes, Nude and Teal Blue. I enjoy the linear holographic ones the most as I love the in your face holo look but Blue Suede Shoes is just SO gorgeous!!! Teal Green and Teal Blue appear quite similar in the bottle but they are most definitely different. For non-polish lovers either one would suffice but yes you do need both if you love holos as much as I do!
To get the maximum holographic effect, Anna recommends letting each coat dry thoroughly between coats. Dry time is super quick so this isn't a hassle. I allowed about 5 minutes between each coat before taking my photos.
Overall the 9 new shades are a fantastic addition to the Glitter Gal holographic family! The formula is fantastic, the new colours are interesting and unique and the holo effect is amazing - a definite must for any collection. Anna and Kerry use small "true and premium" holographic particles which are expensive to source hence the polishes are on the pricier side. They're well worth it though in my opinion =)
Details: The new Glitter Gal holographics are available from August 24th 2012 online from glittergal.com.au and their stockists (full list here]) for $11.95
What do you think of the new shades? Which take your fancy? Thanks for looking as always ladies!
