Picture Polish Opulence range swatches and review

Today I have my swatches and review of 3 new shades from the Opulence range from Aussie brand Picture Polish which is available from today. You've probably seen quite a few swatches over the last little while but here's my take on the collection for you ;) There are 3 colours in the collection - Monroe, Mask-a-rade and Peacock and they're all gorgeous shades!

Monroe is a vampy blood red jelly with very fine holographic pieces. I have wanted a vampy holo for sooooooooo long! It's gorgeous and a very unique jelly with a subtle holo effect. I'm a sucker for jelly polishes what can I say haha. Unfortunately I found application really difficult. 3 coats is pictured.

Mask-a-rade is a multichrome glitter suspended in a clear base. It is AMAZING! It closely resembles the awesome Ozotic Elytra polishes with the multicoloured glitters but it seems to be packed with more glitter. It's meant to be used as a topcoat as it would take quite a few coats for it to become opaque on its own. They recommend layering it over a dark base and here I've used 2 thin coats over a black creme (Color Club Where's the Soiree for those playing at home). Application was perfect and the glitters glided on smoothly and evenly onto the nail.

Peacock is a green glitter suspended in a purple jelly base. From the bottle you can't tell that it's in a jelly base so it's a nice surprise! It looks much more opaque in the bottle than on the nail unfortunately. They recommend adding topcoat for a high shine as the jelly base makes it dry slightly matte. I found application tricky on this also and 3 coats with topcoat is pictured.

Overall: The 3 new shades in the Opulence range are a fantastic addition to the Picture Polish family!! Picture Polish have been coming out with some great shades lately (hello flakies!) and these shades are very unique and I'm so happy to have been given the opportunity to try these out. Who doesn't love glitter and holo polishes seriously?!! I found dry time was excellent and the brush was decent.

I found the formulas quite thick and tricky to work with - the exception being Mask-a-rade which applied wonderfully albeit a little on the thick side. The most difficult for me was Monroe which just would not cooperate with me at all! They could definitely use a few drops of thinner for easier application as they tend to clump on the nail making application difficult. They are well worth the tricky application though! I recommend waiting for each coat to dry completely before starting the next.

My favourite has to be Monroe despite the pain in the butt application followed closely by Mask-a-rade. I would have loved a bit more holo in Monroe however I'm not complaining too much ;) I wore this as a full manicure as I had no time to change my polish and it wore really well for 3-4days.

Details: The Picture Polish Opulence range is available from today and can be purchased from the Picture Polish online store for $13.50. They ship internationally so international ladies don't have to miss out!

    1. No worries! I hope they stock them in stores eventually too. It's always nice to see shades in person instead of just online!
