Color Club Yummy stars NOTD

Hi ladies! I am so over work and it's only Tuesday.. doh! At least I have nail polish to look forward to at the end of the day =) I decided to do a quick mani using Color Club Yummy from the Sweet Seduction collection.

Yummy is a sweet pale pink creme. I find with most light pink cremes I own I find application a little streaky and difficult eg. China Glaze Innocence and OPI Passion and a few coats is needed. I was hoping this wouldn't be the case with Yummy but the 1st coat had bald spots galore and the 2nd still had VNL so a 3rd coat was needed. Below is 3 coats without topcoat. I really like the colour though so it was worth the pain!

Now I probably should have stopped there with just the pretty polish, however the lovely *misskitty* requested more Konad mani posts so of course I had to Konad! I wanted to try out the full nail stars design from Bundle Monster plate BM21 so I used Rimmel Double Decker red to stamp and then topped it with Nailene Acrylic Strong topcoat.

I'm not really happy with how it turned out though. I'm not really digging the pink and red combo and my placement was so off! It's so darned hard to see where the red polish is on the stamper to align the pattern. I was going to do more with the mani but couldn't be bothered. Oh well! You see the good, the bad AND the ugly on my blog =p

What colour combinations do you think go well or love to see for konadicures?

Revlon Cherries in the Snow NOTD

Today's NOTD is actually from VERY late last night =p I've been lending some of my polishes to the girls from work and one of them lent me Revlon Cherries in the Snow to try in return.

Revlon Cherries in the Snow is a red creme that doesn't actually remind me of cherries.. the colour is more like a red apple or something. I suck at describing things sorry! I haven't used Revlon polishes in a LONG long time and I think I know why. I found it a little difficult to use the brush and had to do quite a bit of cleanup. It also chipped a lot after just a couple of hours of wear even with Seche Vite. On the plus side it only needed 1 coat which is always a big plus in my book! Below is 1 coat without topcoat. I had difficulty capturing the proper redness of this colour unfortunately.

I then decided to be very literal and konad cherries and snowflakes! I used Konad Special Polish in White to konad cherries using GCOCL plate B01 and snowflakes using Konad plate m59 on alternate fingers. Topped it all off with Seche Vite.

China Glaze Up & Away Skittles manicure

Just a quick manicure for you all! I'm attending a 1st birthday party for a little girl tomorrow afternoon (oops just realised it's past midnight so today!) so I thought it would be fun to do a skittles manicure using my newly purchased China Glaze Up & Away polishes. Now I know that Skittle manicures isn't to everyone's liking - I think it's only OK - but I have been lusting after this collection for SOOOOOOO long I had try them all out at once. Plus a child's birthday party seemed the perfect opportunity to try the manicure out at least once so I can say I've tried it =p

I won't review the polishes now as I only painted 1 nail of each colour so it wouldn't be a proper review. But just from quickly swatching them, I didn't have any major problems with any of the colours and were exactly as I expect from China Glaze polishes - FANTASTIC! I love love LOVE this brand! All colours below are 2 coats and without topcoat.
